Since returning to play several weeks ago, I've noticed that my tactical captain is getting her blue butt handed to her when that never happened before, I'm even blowing up in Borg/Tholian red alerts! That certainly isn't supposed to happen. I also don't feel like I'm doing the damage I used to. I'm thinking the skill tree change has messed me up. I copied someone's (probably Bridger's) skill tree but things aren't coming together for me since returning to play.
This is what I'm working with, which shouldn't be bad enough to be derping like I am, but we'll see.
The weapons are sensor-linked and that's a 3pc Iconian set with a Fleet core. The tac consoles are geared to phasers.
I'm strongly suspecting my main issue is my skill tree, it's just so heavily tac focused that it may be why I'm blowing up in Fleet Cruisers. But I'm not sure. Along with the FAW nerf, the skill tree change is probably the only other major change to the game since I last played regularly.
Nothing too spectacular here, very much a budget build in terms of traits.
A stardard setup for my BOFFS. It can change slightly depending on what cruiser I'm flying but generally this looks pretty standard for me.
DOFFs are setup to support my Drake build. Yes they're very low budget DOFFs being only blue rarity but they did fine in the past so I'm not sure if they're the problem, even though I know I should probably upgrade them to purple or change to Aux2Bat.
Specializations are Pilot and commando I think. Mostly because warp core breaches were virtually the only thing in the past that would kill me.
So that's the situation, I haven't parsed damage in ages but the last time I did, I was owning things in STFs to a satisfactory degree even if I wasn't breaking records. Now the other day I did SWARM ADVANCED and had trouble killing a single little swarmer-looking thing. So I'm not sure what gives.
Any assistance or advice on what I'm doing wrong, or what I should focus on changing/improving would be appreciated.

In my humble opinion ...
Swap out Specializations to Intel primary, Strategist secondary.
Personally, I'd also ditch Gravity Well (or the LtC Sci ability. I'm not familiar with the FCAC seating, but can that slot use the Command ability Rally Point Marker? If so,you'll need to stop once activated, but it's a phat heal if you are getting some hate on.
Iconian is still a good set, yet I think the Colony Deflector, Prevailing Engines, <WC of choice> and Prevailing Shields edges out Iconian. Alternatively, I think the Sol Defense D/E/S set is "tanky" ... and free.

Only survival-related thing that comes to mind is you need two purple Conn DOffs to reduce the Tac Team cooldown to minimum.
Also that skill tree, what's with the random point in projectiles? Shield Hardness and Regen deserve a point (probably no more).
