    There was talk about an another animated version of Star Trek at one stage many moons ago. The animated idea was pitched as a means to save on costs. It was going to be called Star Trek: Final Frontier and would focus on another incarnation of the Enterprise following a particularly brutal war with the Romulans that threw the Federation into chaos.

    Dayyum! That Enterprise is horrendous! Animation may be the way to go, especially if the rumors of Patrick Stewart returning are to be believed. He looks very old. Well, ok, he is very old but they could make the cartoon and have Picard straight off the Ent-E.

    I'm pretty excited about it - this is the first time I've heard of it! Starfleet Academy sounds like it would be a good show, but I would hope that they keep it from devolving into a teenage drama-fest show. Based on the director's other series though....I dunno. Nevertheless, I hold eternal hope and look forward to watching it.

    Hmm, not sure how I feel about Picard.

    If they made him an admiral and more of a reoccurring character on a new show with that featured a new crew and ship then I would be good with that.

    i believe in comics and route to STO story says he becomes an Ambassador to Vulcan. and Data becomes the Captain of the Enterprise-E.. which is technically still missing.i know STO is not really canon but the comic was part of the 2009 Star Trek movie prequel series. so they may make it canon to some degree..
