It sounds interesting, but if you read into it, it's useless and a waste of money. The sign can't differentiate between driver, and passenger, nor can it detect certain other uses, such as web use. It's also pointless, because if you are so focused on your phone, you aren't going to notice the sign anyway. To me, this seems like a pointless device that will only really say that mobile phones are being used, somewhere on the road.

To prevent distracted driving from using phones while driving, lets set up a flashing sign that will draw drivers attention from the road.

It's kind of interesting that there is a word to describe texting while driving... Intexticated.

I see and hear it used a lot here in California with their heavy push on an advertisement for safety campaign. The ad itself is pretty good and gives you an awareness... but yet, everyday I see people doing it on my commute to work.

I guess the only way people will stop is if and when they have a terrible accident while distracted or someone close to them does. It will take that kind of shock to affect a person's personal habits. Like drunk driving is still an issue and occurs.

Regardless if it works or not obviously a problem that they need to do something about it. I find it a easy solution put the dang phone down while driving. Are people really the obsessed with their phone they cant put it down for a couple minutes. Blame it on what you will nothing will convince me that they need to be on it. I see so many young people with their heads in a phone its ridiculous. Even visiting siblings or nieces/nephews they got to use their phone texting or doing whatever they are doing. I'll digress, if you cant tell I hate how society relies on these machines. Just drives me bonkers.
