Hi y'all! Although I may be levl 65, I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing in STO. I want to get dilithium nice and fast so I can get the last two fleet ship thingys I need! Does anybody have tips for getting dilithium (and eventually converting it to Zen) quickly and most efficiently?

The admiralty and doff system is the most efficient method for gathering up dilithium without using up too much of your time. Queue things up, let them run, pocket the results. Not every mission will award dilithium, but you can rake it in quite nicely if you keep things running. You’ll get a little chunk for completing rank 5 and 10 of each admiralty campaign. Completing the Klingon and Ferengi Tour of Duty (10 separate missions each to finish) will award 30,000 dil each time.

You can hit the fleet mine and the daily mining quest at the asteroid field, though mining does get tedious after a while.

Beyond those, stockpiling reputation marks and converting them to dil gives good returns, though you can run the 1 hour missions each day for a higher return if you’ve got the patience for it.

Next port of call would be the Dyson Battlezone on the ground. There’s always people there - a lot of them tend to be afk mind you as they wait for someone else to finish them jump in for the bosses, despite the fact it would be much faster if they helped in the first place - and you can pull down quite a bit of change from it if you get a few runs in each day.

All of that is more the end game method, don’t worry too much about grinding it out on the way up, it’s easier to deal with at the max level and opens more options.

Here's the thing about Dilithium: you can only refine 8K worth in a 20-hour period. So acquiring it is pretty easy, but making it useful in any way will take time. A LOT of time.

Unless you buy Zen and convert it to useable Dilithium ...

I'm talking about the relative price, the actual price is irrelevant.

Buying FSMs from the C-Store: Dilithium -> Zen -> Fleet Ship Modules
Buying FSMs from the Exchange: Dilithium -> Zen -> Master Keys -> EC -> Fleet Ship Modules

A Fleet Ship Module is 500 Zen. A Master Key is roughly 100 (depending on sale and quantity), thus a Fleet Ship Module is roughly 5 Master Keys.

If 5 Master Keys are listed on the exchange for a higher price than a FSM, then it's better to buy Keys from the C-Store with Zen, sell them on the Exchange for EC, and then buy FSMs off the Exchange with EC.

If 5 Master Keys are listed for a lower price than a FSM, then it's better to just buy an FSM directly from the C-Store with Zen.

The latter scenario is highly unlikely, as the last time I cared about FSMs a single Key was already worth more. If the former scenario is true it'll be even faster, since you'll be getting EC while grinding Dilithium anyway.
