3 - The lack of activity lately here has bled into STO in-game to a degree as well. Maybe I've just been unfortunate and unlucky with my times, but there's been several occasions when there's been plenty of people online, but no-one's talking to anyone else. I don't think this is a sign of an anti-social sentiment, rather everyone's in a rut and treading water, waiting for something to happen. The grind and constant string of events has tapped everyone out - we're tired, bored and hoping Age of Discovery will give the game the shot in the arm it needs to get going again.

Point 1) I'm game for damn near anything, space or ground. I think Scarlett made a great point, have a plan for the night, prevents the scenario of five folks standing around saying, "I dunno, what do you want to do?"

The other thing I'd advocate for is ideally, making sure the team can be cross-faction. Nothing more frustrating than not being able to play in the reindeer games b/c you wanted to play a KDF.

Who was it, I think it was Jellybug, used to assemble teams and just string together runs of a few queues in a row. I loved that stuff.

    2) The main thing that hamstrings me is time. I'm East Coast US, and by the time I log in, and clear away "bookkeeping" (doffing, Admiralty etc.), it's 10pm or 10:30. (Note to peeps, if you're on in that time frame, look me up! Big Grin )

    3) Nothing coming to mind right now, but if I think of anything else I'll holler.

    Hello Bridger!

Firstly thank you for taking care of interest of the community here. I appreciate it!

1.) What type of events you want.
Generelly I'm game for anything: Ground and space task force operations, episode replays for accolade hunting, beta testing foundry missions incl. review, etc. Given the choice I guess I like ground TFOs on elite level difficulty the most. Space TFOs on elite though are a pain, ever since all of the enemy ships became HP sponges and their damage output is ludicrous.

2.) What is you stopping to play events together with your fleet members.
Real life always comes first for me. Since many things are coming up to me I always need to be ready to go on an instant. From time to time though I ask in armada chat if people are game for a quick TFO, often there wasn't much of a response.

3.) Everything you want to tell us, we can only improve the situation when we know what is going on.
There isn't much that can be done in my case, since I chose to keep a very laid back approach nowadays in STO and I know I spent like the last 15 years with several MMOs and had various commitments over the years in online communities. I guess I grew tired of having an online commitment at all. In addition running the Breach Event currently on several characters per day makes me satisfied having played some STO. Last, but not least, I recall that STO has also Star Trek in its name, and that means for me having a good adventure as well instead just firing phasers at the alien of the day mindlessly and therefore I do enjoy playing a well made foundry mission.

Thank you everyone for involving yourselves. As Bridger mentioned, it has really been insightful.

I would like to discuss this to and fro with everyone here before I also point out some things I've noticed which are essentially very community centric.

I decided to address this first because from what I've read, quiet a few members believe this to be true.

This anything but far from the truth. A couple, very few members, of this community involve themselves with builds and DPS - simply because most of us veterans need something and some incentive to keep going on STO. We've got most of everything STO has to offer, if not all.

No one has ever been stopped from being grouped in UFP simply due to builds during UFPlanets events - there are different groups for high tier content which don't even run as often. So thank you for sharing this concern, but hopefully this shouldn't intimidate you anymore.

I myself never involved myself in builds prior to being a Quartermaster in STO Division! Another thing, STO really isn't a game where not being 'built' has any negative affect, and all us veterans know this. So do not hesitate to group up at events, our events are not elitist in any fashion.

To directly answer the question it would be to have a session with a goal or focus: this day we are going after Dyson Marks by putting boots on the ground and hunting a dinosaur, or guess what, there is an Undine balloon that needs popped in the Battlezone, UFP ARE GO! Sure, that's not for everyone, and that's on them.
I mean, this is fairly a form of communication. The reason event officers usually ask this is to get an idea of who needs what prior to running queues in the similar fashion. Most of the queues were reputation queues and this made sense to map out who needs want. Event officers set aside valuable time to host events and they don't want people NOT turning up because their event, for example, didn't include Dyson marks today. But yes, thank you for the feed back here - if the majority want a set event and will surely turn up if done so - then why not!

Or going to a battlezone and doing a few round tours to earn some rewards.
Heck even teaming up with some newer players to help them out on missions or earning certain rewards they are wanting is something i'll happily do if i'm able.
I'm also a fan of the non-gaming events, things like picture contests, writing contests etc. These are nice as they let those with little time for gaming have a stab at glory as well, or just post their own creations for people to appreciate.
Hey Sul, first off, I really like the initiative you take to organize ad-hoc events via grouping each day you login. I've definitely taken note of your initiative!

Moving on to your comment, I suppose what you're suggesting is variety not in terms of 'queues' but the genre of content that can be done as group? So ' Reputation Space Queues', 'Battlezones', 'Tour of the Day' (to earn some EC along the way), and general community get togethers in-game? If so, that's definitely something I'll note down.

So really voice comms are just out of the question for me. And i know I can listen in on the chatter, but it feels a bit off tbh as i'm sort of missing all the fun that way.
I feel that was another time. In the beginning when I joined UFPlanets using TS3 to talk was popular means of communication. Slowly this interest shifted to in-game but there was point of time where people from this time stuck to it. I've personally never seen TS3 as a requirement for a couple of years, if people encorage you to join it, its only so that they can talk to you - which you have every right to decline if you don't feel like doing. Using TS3/Discord isn't a requirement when running events, the chat channel can suffice - people however are welcome to talk on voice.

I'd like to see things focus more on the content. It doesn't matter if you have a ship that can vaporise the entire Borg Collective singlehandedly or one that hangs on by its fingernails, it's all about the experience and learning. Everything else can fall into place given time.
You've definitely got a point, especially with marks kinda events. However, I feel with Sul pointing out the same, we can look over re-classifying our events to what I posted earlier regarding the same. That way it'd seem more organized. Bedies, running reputation queues such as "Borg Only" - becomes redundant as everyone needs alot of marks and then there's lack of number of queues/content if its a temporal mark hunt and there's a timer cool down in progress.
So perhaps rather than just classifying as Borg, Temporal, Delta, etc - we just call is Rep Marks Events. But open to your discussion and feedback on this front as well!

This is where I respectfully disagree.

I refuse to subscribe to a reason or excuse which directly and definitely has a negative effect and affect on our STO UFPlanets Community. The truth is, people have become anti-social, do not see the reason to type on chat or respond. I can understand being bored of the game, but we must always be up to talk to each other on the chat regardless of us participating in events, grouping up, or not. I come tired from work myself, and maybe I'm silent for first 30 minutes of login, but I do interact after that. However I've seen fleet of 15 members online playing for hours yet not socializing on chat - this definitely needs to be changed.

The in-game atmosphere has been very anti-social for past several months and that is also a contributing factor towards disinterest from UFPlanets STO in-game activities. We all need to work on this.

Please note, this message is not directed towards those few people who actually liven up the chat! And thank you for observing and mentioning this Petrarch, I was going to bring this point forth myself.

Our entire STO Division has one events officer, Novalance - who administers events for Klingon side. He's also been facing issues to no one turning up to his events, one he hosted just a couple days back but no one turned up to. Besides, regardless of which, do join the events. We can private queue and add Klingon players to the queue now.

Addressing the "elephant in the room", making time to attend the event:
I don't expect anyone to sacrifice their health, work or real life to attend events. However, a message to the officer hosting the event would be great. A basic communication with the officer would be great. Browsing over the events and RSPing with attendance and even 'maybe'. STO Division really has no event officers right now and its because they've all become demotivated and no one else wants to take charge.

I've received 0 applications for Away Team Leaders (Event Officers for STO). So that definitely tells something.

as for me, I would just like to have an active fleet...! lol myself and 1 other have multiple toons and have completed everything except the colony, which is T4. we have a second fleet (which we use as a storage fleet) but its only a T1 with no holdings.. My fleet was part of an Armada but things there took a downslide into the dramatic side, so we broke away and started our own as an Alpha Fleet. That probably was a mistake, but breaking away was for the best. So it is practically impossible for me to organize events/STFS or anything like that... however if anyone here sees me in game (Dylan Erikson @captrobjenkins82606) feel free to include me.

What I would like to see are more historical missions like with what is coming with AoD. Id like to see missions centered around the later half of the 22nd century.. for example fill in the time gap from the NX-01 missions, up to the point where she was decommissioned. Jumping ahead to 2293, id love to see a mission or 2 centered around the Enterprise-B.. Also maybe some missions centered around the Enterprise-C.

What keeps me active in STO is that I have always been a fan of Star Trek (all series & movies included) STO keeps the Star Trek Universe alive! and I think it has a large part to do with us getting new tv shows like Discovery & the upcoming Captain Picard series (his is supposed to be set in 2399 and I think it might be animated). Also what keeps me active are the summer & winter events, I just find them both relaxing and fun; especially the winter event...

Overall I will keep playing STO for as long as it is running..

Not sure if anything of this helps, but I'm definitely in the category of 'filthy casual' when it comes to STO. The only reasons it is still installed on my computer are Lifetime Sub, Tailor Shop, and UFPAC Fleet Day events. I don't really play, thus I don't really have anything constructive to add other than providing awareness/feedback.

When I do fire up STO and login, I prefer to do ground missions more than ship stuff. In all honesty, I tend to fall asleep during ship missions. Flying in circles and hitting buttons, just feels pretty impersonal to me. When I MMO, I like to see and be my character. Ground missions somewhat allow that. Yet, I am waaaaaaaaaaaay behind in my ol'Vice Admiral era T5 with my ancient MKXII equipment. I do have a few T6s, but have no clue about the mastery or sub-sets (Intel, Pilot, etc) which is fine. It took me dying a lot on the ground to realize the old purple ground kits were now vendor trash and did nothing. Suffice to say, I still will login to STO every now and then, but only for the social (or signature work) aspects.

I think Mack has done an excellent job of nailing the head of the issues already in his above post. The social culture in-game has changed as STO has aged. I never thought of the 'solo-aspect' change, but I do see that now. Even in my T5 and MKXII equipment, I was able to complete the feature episode where DS9 gets badly wrecked. Probably would have been infinitely more fun to go through with others, but as Saelanna sort of brought up, I really didn't want to drag anyone down or be a deadweight in a group. In an old ship with obsolete gear, I go slow through the content. But I'm ok with that.

If and when I do login to STO, I'll certainly be more mindful to give a shoutout in the UFPlanets chat and absolutely will respond if someone says something. Even if it is, "I don't know the answer". I can at least be more social. Smile

I remember joking with people at launch that this was basically a single-player game! That was of course, long before queues even existed. Back in the "l4g cure ground" was about the only multiplayer aspect of the game.

For me, the loss of Chase has made Fleet Events boring. Running Elite ground missions for 4+ hours was fun. Chase and I were able to carry weaker players which for me made the STF more challenging. Having to adjust on the fly to compensate for the weaker players.

Also, fleet events are usually played on Advance. I play on Elite difficulty so Advance is too easy for me which makes it not fun. It also takes too long to organize a mission. With Chase, we just go from one mission to the next. It's plan out.
