I use the android on two of my chars. Yes, I count them in with the "schmoes I picked up along the way."

Scar, I'd say consider the cost carefully. What are you going to get that's worth two bills to you, especially concentrated in a single character? (I'm not saying "No", mind you, just that you should properly value your costs.)

There is another way you're able to do it, the K-13 holding has android boffs, the Dr. Brown model (male) and the Andrea model (female) which are in reference to the TOS episode "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" - these ones are engineers however and can't be customised at the tailor. The veteran boff comes in all 3 flavours, though as with the K-13 ones, you're limited to one per character. The K-13 and Veteran one can be used together however.

This same trait is avaible with the 0718 Bridge Officer.

The best is Nelen Exile with "Suspended Animation" trait though. Different mechanic but same result. Revives itself from defeated state every 90 seconds.

I do keep different Boffs for Space, Ground and Vanity. The space one have traits which enhance DPS, so romulans, Hierarchy, Borg Engineer Boff for Efficiency, etc.

The ground ones are federation member boffs like andorian, android, photonic, vulcan, human, etc who basically have the tactical sets I don't use.

The vanity ones are like Georgy photonic, Reman Boff, Jem Hadar. They store random stuff, environmental suits and for the lols. For example, I named my Reman 'Lord Voldemort'.

I'm new and not even fully levelled up yet. But even I realised that the traits were kind of important. So I have some for space and some for ground. I even go so far as to swap Active DOFF's around to make sure I have all the bonuses I want whether the action is taking place in space or on the ground.

BOffs. Bridge Officers.
DOffs. Duty Officers.

But your point is still well taken. Eventually you'll settle on a DOff package that will work well over-all and then forget them. Unless you get some EPIC DOff, then you'll look at the list again. Maybe you'll see something that doesn't make sense any more (recharge timer reduction for torps on a beam boat, anyone?), or you'll find that you don't REALLY need to be earning 2 GPL with every kill, but that +20% Exotic Resistance would sure come in handy!

But that's another thread (that is probably already out there).
