Just curious which faction people prefer, Also considering the double xp tomorrow what toons people will be making/levelling for which faction and why?

Or if you're Rom or jem'hadar which allegiance you choose.

I will be leveling 4 or 5 KDF Toons to Doff level for contraband assignments and then go from there

Fed because... well... first character created due to my fondness of the Galaxy class, main character is Fed, and my Fed side has almost every Z-Store ship available, especially useful for levelling new characters. I have a few KDF's but alot more Feds.

Plus my primary Romulan and Jem'Hadar characters are Fed aligned for above reason.
And Federation side throughout the game has a greater presence than KDF; more players, more fleets, making it easier to acquire Fleet specific gear through fully levelled fleet holdings, and partake in the wider social aspect of the game.


If there was a more EVE-like PVP aspect ingame, then KDF (and Romulan) numbers would undoubtedly be far more prevalent.

For max DPS you want a Romulan KDF.

Going Rom makes it easy to acquire Boffs with the Superior Romulan Operative trait for the Crit buffs.
On the other hand, going Klingon makes it easy to acquire Nausican Boffs which have the Pirate trait for a flat damage buff.

The Cross Faction T6 Flagship bundle is a safe bet as it covers Fed, KDF & Rom together. The T6 Bortas (Bortasqu?) ships and T6 Scimitars are all pretty good for tank and damage under a Tactical captain.

Both of my KDF and ROM alts use Weapon System Synergy from the T6 Veteran/Lifer Battlecruiser and Super Charged Weapons from the above T6 Flagships for easy DPS gains. Effective on their respective Fleet T6 Battlecruisers but not ideal on the slower Flagships. This combo is not META, but these are alts used for a bit of fun on the side so not really important.

Superior Romulan Operative is probably the better choice.

Five SRO Boffs would give you +10% CrtH and +25% CrtD.
Five Pirate Boffs provides +7.5% all damage

I dropped a few SRO Boffs into one of the Fed side fleet banks yesterday.

I can list everything that I consider when making a new captain.

Federation:
Starfleet ships (I love most of them)
always seen as the "good guys"
Used to be the best faction for teaming up for STFs (now TFOs this is no longer a real consideration thanks to Random TFO's)
Fleet holdings are complete for UFP Mainfleet (armada projects are available sometimes)

Klingon:
I love the Myriad Designs for the Birds of Prey (which are also the easiest ships to use for leveling due to the Universal slots)
You get more ships with "Raider Flanking"
Easier access to the "must have" consoles like Dynamic Power Redistributor. (between 5-10mil EC for the pack)
Pi Canis Sorties dailies for the Dilithium.
Marauding missions in the various nebulae around KDF space for Dilithium
PvP Daily missions where some of them reward you Dilithium for killing NPC's (turret killer, captain killer ground etc)
Teaming up is not a problem or a consideration these days with Random TFO's
KDF Fleet holdings are mostly complete (colony needs to get to Tier 5, but theres more opportunity to donate marks/dil/doffs this side)
Romulan Aligned KDF captains have access to their own Romulan operative boffs(yes they do on the fed side but everything else here outweighs picking fed)

I always prefer the Federation faction! Their ships have a wonderful design and I can stare at it and play around with it for hours on end.

As for the KDF, I do really like the menacing look of the Klingon ships, but I kinda get over it rather quick.

Now, if we had a Borg faction, that'd be epic and I'd jump ships to a Borg Tactical Cube immediately!
