    hey everyone, I'm at a loss... I cant get in game.. ive even posted to the STO Forums but ive had no responses... so im trying here...


    For some reason I can not patch or get into Star Trek Online... I open the launcher and all I get over and over is "error 14 the connection to the server was lost. restart in....."


    is there anyway to fix this? ive tried everything i can think of; ive reset my router, unistalled/reinstalled STO, windows updates/driver updates and i still get the same "error response" my computer is running fine, just as SWTOR runs fine, the issue seems to be with the STO Launcher.

    thanks for any advice.!

    My Star Trek Online client is working fine.

    Most likely there's a problem with how your launcher and the server communicates.

    Do you play through Steam, Arc or a standalone launcher?

    How were you able to reinstall STO when you're getting the error, or did you just reinstall the launcher?

    Are you running Windows 10?

    Well it's the same on all versions on Windows.

    Step 1:
    Unplug the power from your router and leave it unplugged.


    Step 2:
    Open up the start menu on your computer and search for CMD, right click and press on "Run as Administrator"

    Type in: ipconfig /flushdns and hit the ENTER key on your keyboard.

    Should look like the picture below when you're done.

    Step 3:
    Open the start menu and hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard. While holding down the SHIFT key press the turn off button in the start menu, continue holding down the SHIFT key untill your computer is fully turned off.

    Windows 10 cheats when it comes to turning off and on, it's more like a deep sleep in order to get better boot times. Holding down the SHIFT key will force Windows to turn everything off properly. This is why a restart or turning it off and on again rarely works on Windows 10, but it works wonders on older operating systems. It's because on Windows 10 it usually just goes to deep sleep.

    Step 4:
    Wait for about 5 minutes before plugging in the router and turning your computer back on.

    Step 5:
    Once you got the internet connection back, repeat step 2.

    Then try the game again, see if it works.

    Instead of using the Arc platform, or even the STO launcher; can you go directly to the game .exe and run that?
    It should take you straight into the games built in login screen.

    I tried starting the game with the GameClient.exe but it wasn't working. It told me I was missing game files tho I just had it open a few mins ago XD

    That's weird. Have you tried uninstalling Arc and redoing everything from scratch?
