Some of the Romulan fleet ships I'd recommend which you should look in-depth are; Malem & Faeht Intel Warbird.

I've been eyeing up the Faeht as something on which to try a nice CDR-powered-by-PO build a workout. You're not making this easier on me.

Actually, Three, I feel like the Reliant carries water, period. Nice ship. Got some pep to her, and a bridge layout that lets her hit pretty hard.

I've recommended only from the Romulan versions by the way, as I assumed you're only looking into getting or mainly interested towards acquiring Romulan ships.

If you're looking towards Federation Fleet Ships though, there's way more variety to be offered.

If you're looking towards Federation Fleet Ships though, there's way more variety to be offered.

For me, this stems back to last summer, when I kind of went of a "Warbird frenzy", and took my Fed-Rom Science captain through a ton of different ships and builds. I didn't get around to the Faeht, but in the wake of the Photonic Officer change, that ship came to mind again, as I started to list out ships on which I wanted to try using PO. So yeah, I think I see a build in my future!

Faeht is a fun ship, got the fleet version on S'anra and the regular cstore on Shiarrael, though at the moment S'anra is back on her Fleet Mogai (simply because it's one hell of a sexy ship), while Shiarrael is cruising around in a T6 scim for now.

Gagarin does look indeed to possibly be one of those forever ships. While it has lower hull and shield mod compared to the Fed MW trio, it's more nimble, heck of a fun trait, possible to use 5 tac consoles, mower power to weapons, 2 tac Boff slots + uni, and looks great too.

I'm gonna go with the Fleet Gagarin right now as i'm having a real blast in it.
Decent boff seating, great console layout and the MW spec adds a bit of fun to it as well. It's something a bit different but still quite capable. The Arbiter might in theory have more punch but the Gagarin I feel is more versatile and could survive better. Plus it gets the MW mechanics which add a decent bit to its performance.
Finally it looks absolutely gorgeous too, so it's definitely got a lot going for it.

One of the things I've always liked about the Arbiter/Mogh is that they're nimble enough to use cannons. The Gagarin's turn is 1.5 less; do you find it's below the threshold for effective DC use?

I personally found even the Arbiter a tad sluggish for my tastes for a cannon boat, though that was some time ago. The Gagarin, while I use her as a beam boat, I found to be the same at first since I was coming from a T6 Connie and that probably had me spoilt with how it nimble it was. That being said, after making a few tweaks here and there an adding the helmsman trait in, it started to loosen up. She's never going to steer like the Defiant, but you could give it a try and see how it works.
