    Good Lord what an episode!

    ...

Tyler clearly didn't sabotage the Spore drive, it was probably the "possessed" Ariam who is most likely working for whatever party from the future messed with the probe and seems to be launching those planet killer weapons in Spock's visions.

Now what those future bad guys are is pretty intriguing.....can't wait for more on that plot thread.
Yea in the last episode discussion I thought Ariam had something done to her by the Probe. This certainly I think confirms it, and she more than anyone, is likely doing things without her knowledge--like Pike had claimed can happen to Section 31 Operatives.

He's got the right principle, but completely missed who, or better yet, whom is doing it and for what reasons.

the only thing that is keeping wanting to watch the show right away instead of waiting a few days is Spock and Pike things like warp on shuttles the Klingon looks plus a few other things are still bugging me but that being said this ep is the best ep yet but to me I neither liked or not liked it.

Admiral Ross did work with 31 though (Spoilers for those who have not seen that DS9 Episode) Also, I enjoyed this weeks episode looking forward to the next one!
That was one of the most intense scenes in Star Trek. Barry Jenner was a very underrated actor and Admiral Ross became my favorite Flag Officer.

    Despite his association with S31.

One other thing is that, I am disgusted with are the Starfleet Admirals in this show (era), for some reason they are all the complete opposite what it means to be a Starfleet Officer in this episode it was more like they acted like Romulans and I would not be surprised if the Vulcan would be one.
I can see why you mean.

I will add though, most of the admirals in TNG were jerks.

Yet the writers manage to rape canon whenever they can, I mean they start with a canon flashback to TOS but than ignore the canon right away only one ship ever visited Talos IV and now three have been there Enterprise, Discovery and the S31 Ship.

The Talosian were played in TOS by smal women to show the evolution of the Talosians that they lost the physical strength and developed their mental abilities yet the new Talosians do not have those features.

Vina barley had any contact with Spock, but it was like she had as much contact with him as she had with Pike also everyone knows that Talos IV is a forbidden planet with a death penalty but the Computer had to tell it to all knowing Burnam.

I didn't get the impression Vina even knew Spock other than being aware of him being a part of Pike's crew from the pilot. She was much more concerned with Pike coming back and seeing him again than with seeing Spock, him coming there just meant another chance for her to see the person she was in love with.

And there's never been any proper tally of how many ships went to Talos IV, we know the Enterprise goes there at least twice and then Discovery, but the S31 stealth ship hardly spent more than a few mins in orbit at most; certainly nothing to mess with any canon stories.

Regarding General Order 7, well there's actually no definitive date for when it was enacted so it could be after this episode, but before the events of The Menagerie in TOS. We only know it was put in place AFTER Pike and crew went there but no specific timescale for that.
And even if it were in place the nature of Discovery's mission pretty much gives them flexibility to go there to both find Spock or discern the nature of the Red Angel. And considering it was Pike who recommended the Order 7 in the first place it seems pretty likely he'd be the only person qualified to violate such an order should the need ever arise.

It was metnioned in detail in the The Menagerie that the Enterprise was the only ship.

One thing to consider is the possibility that Discovery's / S31's incursions to Talos IV were classified and kept off of the official record.

Which due to the nature of the incursions & 31's involvement would be a likely circumstance.

Discovery and S31 would of visited Talos IV after that document was created, and with S31's involvement, Discovery's visit may never have been recorded.

As far as that document goes... WHAT THE HELL!!! Half-Vulcan Science Officer Spock!?! It doesn't say Human Captain Christopher Pike!

Nice work on including the top secret document Bridger! Who's your source, WikiLeaks? 😁

    Cheers!!!

I really liked this episode as well, and I am going to do something I have NOT done to this point in Discovery. I am going to say something nice about Burnham. She had the best line in the episode, which was:

"Do you really think the beard is working for you?"

I also think they did an outstanding job of linking this episode with "The Cage" as well.

I actually chuckled a little at that
