    The range on it isn't great (20m) but it does physical rather than kinetic damage, so it'll be handy for those endeavours. The secondary fire seems to be significantly more powerful than the primary attack.

    And as an added bonus:
    Using the secondary fire mode, your character will mimic Picard's reaction from First Contact when he uses it against the Borg.

    But the grown up part of me wonders if they could have reduced the damage output of the secondary attack and made it last longer to do the weapon some historical justice.
