I just finished levelling a new toon (The lovely Cardassian lady in my signature) using a Command Assault Cruiser (The Valiant USS Vimy Ridge), and I have to say that the levelling experience is a lot of fun, and by the time you finished levelling, you should be an expert pilot of that ship.

After I got to around halfway through Commander (level 20-30), I actually had to up the difficulty level because the ship was a little overpowered. Part of that may be attributed to Bridger's amazeballs Command Assault Cruiser build, but I'm sure a lot of it can be levied on how unbalanced the offensive universal consoles some of the Tier 6 ships have while levelling.

The Metreon Gas Warhead Launcher, despite having a 2min cooldown, if used correctly on a large cluster of enemies, absolutely nukes them. I was doing 25-30k crits at Lt. Commander (Lv15) in solo play. It was ridiculous.

The same can be said for other offensive Consoles, like the ones from the Cardassian T6 Reformation Reinforcements Set, just totally obliterate enemies in solo play.

Another thing that had me miffed was that I was unable to get my hands on the Wide-Angle Quantum Torpedo launcher that comes with Assault Cruisers because it comes in the Right Most Bow Weapons Slot, which is locked until you reach Captain. It's a scaling weapon, Cryptic should patch the ship so that it comes in the leftmost slot, or have it appear in your Inventory or Overflow bag.

I do feel that, for the most part, how the T6 ships unlock slots and stuff as you level is fairly balanced if you can ignore the above. It's a much better implementation of the levelling ship system than what they started with on the Prototype Light Exploration Cruiser (Walker Class), where all the weapon and console slots were unlocked from the get-go, making the ship VERY overpowered out of the gate.

The last point I want to make is that a balance pass on Ship Trait Experience should be done. It should be balanced in a way that by the time you unlock Ship Traits, your levelling ships trait should be unlocked and ready to use. By the time I got to lv50, I was only on Tier 3 of the ship's progression. (I should point out that I am a Life Time Subscriber, so I earn XP at a higher rate). You've been using this ship for the last several hours and done a lot of content with her, you should be rewarded for that work with that ships Trait to use.

Very nice Ace! I think you summed up the experience quite nicely, I always found levelling toons to be an absolute bore. However the new scaling system might make the experience less painful and I can maybe start exploring KDF aligned toon again.

On a side note, I should point out that all the mission shuffling they did in the recent patches has screwed up the continuity of some of the missions, especially ones where Daniels is involved. In one mission, his time scars get worse, only for the next mission for him to not have any at all. It's ironic that the ones where the continuity is thrown out the window are the Time Travel missions... go figure.

Also, the arcs I did to get to max level are Klingon War, Romulan Mystery, Cardassian Struggle, Yesterdays War, Future Proof, New Frontiers, Gamma Quadrant, Age of Discovery.

I reached Lv60 at the end of "Doomed to Repeat" and Admiralty pushed me to 65.

Honestly, the leveling T6 ships were the most exciting part of the update for me! Glad they did it!

I'm half-tempted to start a new character just to try out leveling with one of my ships, but I don't play my alts as it is... Next "Delta","Gamma",etc recruit process will be the next alt I create.

Really wish we could get another temporal recruit event, I was taking a break from the game while it was around and it seems like we'll never get a second chance 😭
