so I've found my self in an odd predicament at the moment I am currently trying to work out the best way to get a ship.
the ship in question is the Special Requisition Pack - Dyson Science Destroyer now the cost has been dropped from 600 Lobi Crystal to 480 Lobi Crystal thou I'm having a very hard time getting the Lobi Crystals.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get them apart from using real life money? or is there a way someone could work out the cost from Lobi Crystal to Energy Credits, So I can buy the ship off someone if they are willing to use the Lobi Crystal and I play the EC cost?

Lobi crystals are account bound upon pickup- and are only obtainable thru lockboxes. You get a random amount from opening them (well, and some promo boxes, too)

That said- RL money isn't the *only* way to obtain- but it is the fastest and easiest. Dilithium can be converted to Zen for Lockbox Keys, or the latter bought through the Exchange by EC.

Although there's other ways to obtain lockbox keys- there's really no other way to obtain Lobi itself.

Well, unless you've got a friend at Cryptic with the ability to gift it directly to your account.

I've got this ship- and never use it. I used it maybe once years ago and then realized it's very limited in capability.

Although the Tac/Sci mode is fun to play with - it's seriously (and quite sadly) eclipsed by the limitations of the ship as T5 as well.

As an aside, it's also the reason the Mirror Crossfield is on my target list of ships to acquire, being that it's superior in almost every way.

@RagnrockS7G, unless there's a specific personal attraction to this ship, I'd seriously advise against wasting Lobi on it- but it's your call in the end. Even the Zen Store Dyson ships are better in that they're not as limited and also available to your entire account (and not just a specific character claiming it) and come with consoles that enhance the capabilities. I don't own them because I'm still waiting to see what Cryptic is going to do with the Tiers now that they've changed T6 to scale with level. (which arguably rendered anything below T6 obsolete)

There are consoles on T5 and lower ships that one might wish to have. Like the Quad Cannons and the Saucer Separation Module or something like that. But that's not the question here.

The question is, is there a way to get the Dyson Lobi ship without spending RL$. The short answer is, "Yes." The long answer is, "Yes, but it's a huge pain in the ass to grind out everything you'd need to do it."

Because the only way to get this particular ship is spending Lobi, you MUST open boxes. Either Lockboxes or R&D Packs. Either way, you're dropping a ton of Zen just to get the Lobi Crystals. What is that ship going for, 480? Assume an average of 3 Crystals per box, that's 160 boxes just to get the Lobi. Maybe more.

In EC, that's 160 keys x 4.3M each = 688 million EC.
In Zen, it's 16 10-Packs of keys x 1,125 per 10-Pack = 18,000 Zen (or more if 16 doesn't get it done.).
Converting DIL to Zen and then into 10-Packs means 400 DIL / Zen x 16,000 Zen = 6,400,000 DIL.

The Dyson Starfleet Science Bundle is only 5,000 Zen for 3 T5 ships.
The Dyson Science Destroyer Mega Bundle is only 10,000 Zen for 9 cross-faction ships.

Unless there's a REASON, the Dyson Lobi ship is not a ship you go hunting for, it's a ship you buy because you already have the Lobi and nothing else to do spend it on.
