Greetings All! Welcome to the Sixth Edition of the Academy News! I am Michael Deputy Commandant of Starfleet Academy. This newsletter is an initiative from the Academy that is intended to keep you abreast of the latest news from across the United Federation of Planets.

SAVE THE DATE
The 53rd United Federation of Planets Awards Ceremony (UFPAC) will be held on Saturday the 28th of September, at 21:30 UFP time.

This event is held roughly every three months and awards members with rank advancements and medals which are awarded for various achievements. To get a promotion and/or a medal you need to be active on the forums or in game, attending events and participating in forum discussions. Then you stand a good chance of getting noticed and receiving a nomination for an award from one of the CL6, CL5 or CL4 members of the UFP.


COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS

• FNS STAFF ADDITION:
  A new Staff Writer is born Saelanna:
  Saelanna has been a member of the UFP since 2017, wears many hats and excels at each of her roles. I look forward to reading her upcoming articles and congratulations on your new role!
  
  
• SFA STAFF ADDITIONS:
  A new Recruit Support Officer has been announced with Quelibrium:
  Quelibrium aka "Q" on TS , has been very active on TS, STO and the holodeck, namely TOR. He has a vast history of volunteering in his previous communities and we're glad he's willing to share his knowledge with us to help support our recruitment operations. Congratulations Quelibrium, we know you will be a valued member of the Academy!
  
  
• SFO STAFF ADDITIONS:
  A new Special Forces Commander has been announced with Solace:
  Solace has been hosting events for the UFP for a very long time. He is a well know person in the community and the STO Division. He will have some big shoes to fill that his predecessor left behind but I am sure Solace will lead Special Forces to a glorious future. You can expect some interesting events coming up that will be Faction or Era Themed and it should be a lot of fun.
  
  
• ARES ROLEPLAY STAFF ADDITIONS:
  A new Simulation Officer has been discovered with Blaster:
  Blaster joined the UFP at the beginning of this year and this is his first CL4 role. Enjoy your new role and congratulations!
  
  
• HOLODECK STAFF ADDITIONS:
  A new Event Officer has materialized with Michael:
  I'll be primarily focusing on SWTOR and for now have 2 weekly events running for TOR. One geared more for EU times and one for NA times. The times could be updated in the future depending on attendance, but I've had a re-spark for TOR with anticipation of the upcoming expansion and can often be found in TOR. Let's rule the galaxy together!
  
  
• JOINT COMMUNITY MEETING:
  The Joint Community Meeting was held this past Saturday. In you were unable to attend, or too busy watching Netflix here are the minutes.
  
  
• VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
  The UFP would not be the place it is today without our volunteers who selflessly sacrifice their time to help out. Check out the currently open volunteer positions, and how to apply for one, here.

UPCOMING EVENTS
The United Federation of Planets has a good number of events coming up! You can sign up for any of these events here:

• AGE OF EMPIRES 2: HD:
  Tuesday, 17th September at 1900 GMT/UFP (In Progress); Quartermaster Seapanda We will be playing the remake of the above named game, Age of Empires II: HD Edition. There are several mods that are currently being used in the game, and new members who join the event will be able to either subscribe to the mods (graphical mods) or we will revert back to the default game.
  
  A customer defense map is currently being used, where all players face off against increasingly more difficult AI. For the time being, the teams will be locked, to prevent people like me turning on you lot Smile Later on, as this event grows, we will ask for feedback and look into different maps and game modes.
  
  
• STAR TREK ONLINE:
  Tuesday, 17th of September at 2000 GMT/UFP; Personnel Officer Solace Greetings members! Welcome to Special Forces Tuesday! This event is a rebranding of the old Task Force Operations Tuesday. Don't worry everybody is welcome to attend! This upcoming event, we'll be grinding out marks, accolades, doing Elite content or just grouping up for some jolly cooperation! (Praise the sun!)
  
  
• STAR WARS THE OLD REPUBLIC:
  Tuesday, 17th September at 2200 GMT/UFP; Event Officer Michael Greetings fellow Champions!
  
  Tonight we perform one or more dangerous missions to aid the Galaxy in it's glorious fight!
  
  How many missions is determined by the galaxy's most wealthy, as they send urgent requests for help from all corners of the galaxy.
  
  We may be up against members of the Hutt Cartels, smugglers, pirates, or a large faction such as the Republic or Empire!
  
  It is hoped that all attending will make it back in one piece, but as ever - last messages to loved ones will be passed across should you fall in battle.
  
  
• ELITE DANGEROUS:
  Wednesday, 18th September at 1930 GMT/UFP; Executive Officer Bedders This is a weekly get-together for anyone who currently plays, or wishes to start playing, Elite: Dangerous.
  
  We may form wings if we're close enough to each other but primarily this is just an organised time to all play the same game and share knowledge & ask questions of each other, or to showcase our favourite ships to satisfy our vanity!

• STAR WARS THE OLD REPUBLIC:
  Thursday, 19th September at 2000 GMT/UFP; Executive Officer Bedders Greetings fellow Champions!
  
  Tonight we perform one or more dangerous missions to aid the Galaxy in it's glorious fight!
  
  How many missions is determined by the galaxy's most wealthy, as they send urgent requests for help from all corners of the galaxy.
  
  We may be up against members of the Hutt Cartels, smugglers, pirates, or a large faction such as the Republic or Empire!
  
  It is hoped that all attending will make it back in one piece, but as ever - last messages to loved ones will be passed across should you fall in battle.
  
  
• STELLARIS:
  Friday, 20th September at 1900 GMT/UFP; Quartermaster Seapanda This event will be a multi-hour session of Stellaris. We will be starting a new Multiplayer game and will be playing cooperatively against AI opponents. If you wish to design your race please make sure you are there before the official start time so that you have plenty of time to customise.
  
  Unlike the previous Stellaris events that we hosted, this one will contain a plethora of mods, all maintained in a collection that you can find on the link below. I strongly advise that you download this collection well before the event starts, as it may take some time. Simply go to the collection and subscribe to it. All mods will be downloaded and installed accordingly.
  
  
• STAR WARS THE OLD REPUBLIC:
  Saturday, 21st September at 0100 GMT/UFP; Event Officer Michael Greetings fellow Champions!
  
  Tonight we perform one or more dangerous missions to aid the Galaxy in it's glorious fight!
  
  How many missions is determined by the galaxy's most wealthy, as they send urgent requests for help from all corners of the galaxy.
  
  We may be up against members of the Hutt Cartels, smugglers, pirates, or a large faction such as the Republic or Empire!

• THE DIVISION 2:
  Saturday, 21st September at 1600 GMT/UFP; Event Officer Heyallo Them baddies being bad, need a piece of loot? just wanna smoosh those gun totting nutters of DC into the ground, well let's go! let's do this! Get some!
  
  NOTE: 4 person group limit, so if more than that show, we will do our best to split into even groups =)
  
  
• STAR TREK ONLINE:
  Saturday, 21st September at 2000 GMT/UFP; Head of Star Trek Online Bridger Greetings Everyone!
  
  Special Forces allows you to play the game with your fellow Fleet and Armada mates and experience Advanced and Elite content like never before.
  
  It is your opportunity to ask questions, learn new tips and tricks and get the rewards you are looking for.
  
  Special Forces is open for everyone and we welcome everyone and our intention is it to be a pleasant experience for every participant.
  
  We play together, we laught together, we fight together and we win together.
  
  
• 53RD AWARD CEREMONY SEPTEMBER 2019:
  The UFPAC is the United Federation of Planets Award Ceremony.
  
  The event is held roughly every 3 months and awards members with rank advancements, as well as medal achievements. It is also used as an opportunity to announce important events or discussions within the UFP and allows members at the end of the event to have the floor should they wish to bring any subject forward with the community.
