The Federation Executive Office and Administrative Bureau would like to announce the following change to the volunteer policy:

• The maximum number of volunteer roles a member can hold at any one time is now capped at three;
• Those members who already hold more than three roles do not have to give one up in order to comply with this new restriction;
• Exceptions can be approved subject to agreement by at least two FEO members.

Where exceptions are being considered:

• If a member already holds three or more roles, the CL5/CL6 submitting the permission change request will need to explain why they need that person for the role being applied for;
• The CL5/CL6 must also confirm they have spoken with the member and confirm that they believe they can take on the new role and its responsibilities, considering they already hold three or more roles;
• The probation period will be set at three months minimum, with an extension of one month available if requested.

Do not let this new policy put you off volunteering to help out here at the UFP, we like our volunteers very much. It’s been introduced as we were concerned that people were taking on too much too soon, becoming jacks of many trades but masters of none. So if you see a position you’re interested in, don’t let the fact that you already hold three or more roles put you off; we may be able to make an exception in your case so discuss your individual circumstances with the department head concerned.

I agree with this policy a lot. It's important to realize that it's quality over quantity.
