Epic preventing me from buying games on Steam that I've been looking forward doesn't make me go to Epic, it triggers my "How dare you attempt to coerce me?!" reaction and flip them the bird.

It will be years before I give Epic the time of day. Rather than producing a competitive product, they damage their competitor to force us to use an inferior product. If we were having this discussion in real life, your ears would be burning from the profanities I'd be hurling at that <self censored>

I even have libraries on EA and Ubi's garbage platforms, but if Epic was a person burning to death in front of me I'd drive off. To buy gas and add more fire to burn the <self censored>

    Harsh.

How come Epic is stopping you from buying games on Steam? They are independent platforms so just buy the game on wherever it comes out first/cheapest surely?

If it's just hatred of Epic full stop i'm not sure i'll ever understand the rage people seem to have against them.

Epic are stopping me from buying their games because of their style of business, they are bribing game developers over to their platform for exclusivity, and I can't stand exclusivity, I hate it. Exclusivity is extreamly anti-consumer, consoles do it, and in recent times, it's taken off on PC as well. I want the freedom to choose where I buy my game, and Steam happens to have a lot of great feautres, but those come at a cost to developers, yet at the same time, there is a big market there.

Steam built a community, Epic is trying to buy a community, that's the difference between the two, and I'm not going to fund a business I don't agree with.

Additionally, I would prefer the GOG style of things, it's DRM free, and they have a laucher too, which I think their new one will allow you to launch games from other launches, which is really helpful. It would be so much better if these companies stopped fighting with each other, and just worked together.

    People before profit.

In an ideal world we'd have one single launcher and store for all PC games, or not need one at all like the good old days. But sadly the world now is set in its ways with all these "storefronts" for games, movies, TV, radio, music, books etc.

It's silly that everything has to be split up into so many different fronts but the blame lies with all the people selling these services, they know splitting things up among stores means more people need to buy more subscriptions etc.
Used to be you'd have a couple of places to get TV, cable and satelite with terrestrial too for us peasants! Now you need about 5 different accounts and subs just to watch the popular stuff and it's only getting worse with the likes of Disney going exclusive to get a piece of the action. Same with games. Exclusivity is sadly one of the biggest problems consumers face but it is literally everywhere now; tough to avoid it.

I suspect this bubble will only last so long. Eventually services will be so split up and tribal that nobody will be getting a good service for their entertainment demands and it'll backfire on the suppliers.

They've been buying time-limited exclusives from developers. That's why Outer Worlds and Borderlands 3 are currently on Epic but not yet on Steam. They have a crappy feature-deficient product (the distribution platform) plagued by controversy (data breaches) and their only selling point is that they've used Tencent's money to undermine Steam's ability to sell games.

Epic is literally stopping me from being able to buy these games on Steam.

The fact that Microsoft is giving Epic a giant middle finger by making Outer Worlds part of their gamepass has managed to make me stop hating Microsoft's Windows Store.

The only thing I like about the Epic Store are the free games. My 2 cents to that xD
