    Hi all;

    After a month offline due to a dead PC, finally able to get it rebuilt and am coming back to the world

    As part of the new system, I got a SSD. But I still have most of my games on a traditional HDD.

    I was wondering if anyone thought STO would benefit from being on the SSD? I know MMO's and games that load environments like that can benefit but I never really noticed a slow down in the game before when it was on my old HDD.

    So curious if anyone has it on a SSD and what they've seen as for results

    Thanks in advance

    All my data is on a SSD, I recall a drastic loading speed reduction when I switched to one. Especially for MMOs since the data is read exactly where it is and doesn't have to be found on a disc.

    Yup. Anything on SSD loads faster. This is especially useful for games.

    I had a small SSD for the OS and an HDD for data/games. After replacing both with a large SSD, I saw improvements on everything. Technically, large SSDs are faster and last longer (better endurance - TBW).

    The major drawback of an SSD compared to a HDD, is that if the SSD dies, it's dead and you aren't getting any of your data back.

    If a HDD fails, there are ways to try and recover some data depending on the damage to the physical disks.

    But yeah, load times are much better with the SSD.
