Apparently, one of the devs has said that you shouldn't believe the 'original' price as that's just Mudd trying to con you into buying a great bargain.

They could get in trouble for predatory marketing. The FTC doesn’t take kindly to using promotional pricing as a deceptive tactic to trick people into thinking they’re getting a good deal. Pretty sure it’s banned in the EU as well.

Their make believe price should have been some made up space currency as to not confuse its actual value.

Granted it was an attempt at humour by Cryptic, but judging by the number of threads and confused people on r/STO it would appear that they have dropped the ball on this one.

You really have to wonder who decides these things. It's like they've never even heard of PR.

Honestly it would not Surprise me if they were already reported by angry users

I think the EP might have had and in this, what comes next who knows.

Holo Leeta is neat - but the Vizier ship might be worth *scooping up* due to its rarity... besides the venting metreon gas reminds me of Star Trek Insurrection when Riker dumped it on the Son'a and they detonated it.. this seems to do the same thing

It does exactly that, the metreon gas venting makes a targetable cloud that you can detonate. Ship trait makes regular drive plasma go boom after a short time

Yeah that would actually be illegal i many places, especially the EU, AUS and US I believe. Advertising something at a price and claiming that price is "on sale" from a much higher but never used value is a major no-no.
Their excuse abut it being part of the fun is not going to work I suspect as it's still got massive potential to dupe people who are not reading Twitter posts by random devs or CM's.
