I've been out the game for so long, I'm still catching up with mechanic changes and what not. Trying to grind EC as best as possible to try and get me a lockbox ship off the exchange, but trying to fathom how people save up hundreds of millions of EC when I've never really had more than 15 million lol.

So, I would appreciate what tips and tricks you guys all use to quickly farm EC.

I saw a TOS Altas on the exchange for only 550mil EC... the Borg Juggernaut looks sick too. Sucks that all the interesting ships are stuck behind a paywall.

Admiralty is pretty decent for farming EC, though it takes a while. It's even more effective if you use multiple toons, I bet there are people here who use 10+ toons to grind EC out of the Admiralty system

Otherwise the usual ways: play the Exchange if you know how (personally I don't), just play and sell everything you can get your hands on (slow), buy Zen and flip it to EC through the Exchange (requires RL money). I read somewhere you can also make EC from crafting, but I don't know how specifically. Players are usually pretty quiet regarding their favorite ways to make EC out of fear of competitors.

You can play the exchange fairly easily if you have some EC to start with, a few million even can start you off.

Keep a look out for anything that is priced quite a bit lower than other similar items (e.g. if you spot a Mk XV weapon that is going for 2Mil and all the others are going for 10Mil). Then flip these smaller items to slowly build up some good EC reserves.
You can fairly quickly leapfrog up the wealth chain doing this and although you might not make huge profits from every resale it all adds up. Also you could find a type of gear that you can keep a close eye on for bargains and resell anything undervalued.
One thing that is quite easy to make money on once you have EC it the lobi ships. They are generally around the 200Mil mark but there is a lot of fluctuation and if you see a single type of one on it's own low in price snap it up and relist for what the others are going for. Good time to watch these items is when a promo event happens as everyone sells stuff to get EC, or when people get surplus Lobi and buy ships to sell which floods the market. Also when an infinity or new lockbox is updated it tends to flood the market too.

Generally i'm not worried if other people learn the tricks.There are thousands of players and most never read forums etc so don't know these secrets. And there is always people listing stuff for the wrong price; missing of zeros!

Great tips from sunfire but another good tip is to craft items at mark 2 such as beams and sell them on the exchange, people will buy them low level to upgrade their quality and get good mods easily as they can re-engineer them to get better or desired mods.They only sell for a couple hundred thousand EC each but it adds up.

I’m not sure if you’re familiar with the re-engineering mechanic, but its a system that allows you to change the modifiers on equipment to something else using a resource called salvage. Salvage is acquired by taking items you don’t want or loot you pickup by right clicking it in your inventory and selecting Salvage item. Higher quality items will award more salvage and R&D materials. Not all items can be salvaged, but salvaged items cannot be reacquired if you accidentally get rid of something you wanted to keep.

I’d suggest any items you want to keep, right click them and select Change protected status to On. This will prevent you from accidentally selling or salvaging items you want to keep.

Quick tip any weapons you craft with mods like [Thrust] [Rapid] [Snare] [Over] [Turret] are not worth keeping or selling as you can’t change those modifiers.

Admiralty over multiple toons is what I do. Loot farming used to be a thing, but I just salvage my loot.

I also haven't open boxes for good 3 years now. I sell my keys with the Lifetime Zen I get. Then I play the auction house with that. I tend to sell once key prices are high.

I haven't done it in a long time but searching the doff listing and flipping the really cheap white doffs was something easy one could do to help supplement some income. Sometimes I sell contraband (more profitable if you have KDF characters) If you want to get perhaps a little dirtier...sometimes there are things you can find on a vendor that are cheap and flip them for a good profit...like I think Saurian Brandy is a example (I had another example I had saw recently but I can't recall offhand)

Yeah there are really odd things that people sell on the exchange. Like you can buy up all the dirt cheap trash weapons and stuff like Romulan ale and often sell to the vendor for more than the EC you bought it for. Gotta sell a lot but it can be a solid income if you're devoted enough.
Conversely some people will happily buy stuff off the exchange that you can actually get dirt cheap from vendors, replicator etc., but they often don't know this or are too lazy to look.

I invest in a huge chunk of contraband also get it from doff assignments then use the turn in contraband doff assignment on all my KDF alts. While I'm doing the daily shuffle on the ALTs over level 52 I do admiralty. Specifically all the dilithium reward ones I can find. Then lastly I log into my ground farmers and grind Dyson zone. When I'm not lazy I can easily gain about 50k Dil a day amongst all my ALTs. KDF and fed combined. Or when I'm truly lazy. Like all the time I only tend to make about 24-28k a day. Used to convert all that Dil to zen and buy keys or r&d when the promotion is on. Then sell the items for ec on the exchanges. Unfortunately the Dil to zen is quite high at the moment so I'm just stockpiling for now. Although I always get tempted to buy 40k Dil worth of phoenix boxes!!

Lastly I then used to use the EC to buy more stacks of contraband. And eventually buy my choice of T6 ship
