    hey everyone, my fleet is working hard to get our colony completed. My question is; are the colony tac consoles and phaser weapons any good? i'm thinking about upgrading mine, if they are. I have bought a quantum and transphasic torpedo and I like them.. I was just wondering about the consoles..

    One or two Colony Tac consoles can be useful in case of survivability issue but mostly I personally do not really use them. The weapons do not make sense to me, I prefer crafted or boxed ones because they can be shared between alts and the proc is not worth it IMO.

    I haven’t used the colony phasers because like T’tan I prefer custom crafted weapons. That being said the colony consoles are a treat if you’re having survivability issues, but I still run a full suite of locators over them because I prefer higher crit chance.

    Personally I quite like them. I use the phasers on my Sovreign and it gives a nice little extra bit of survivability and procs quite regularly. I'm sure if you tinkered with a tank build they could become quite useful.

    This and you can use weapons with the [Pen] modifier as those generate a little bit extra threat. Which as a tank you want to put as much threat as possible to keep the aggro.

    I run four of the TAC consoles on my current Pilot Escort. I have run the Locators alone and mixed with the Colony consoles. I don't really miss the Locators.

    The tac consoles are worth it, I always run 2 on my builds, and every time they saved me when things got too hot.

    As far as the colony tactical consoles go, I'd lean more towards the vulnerability locators from the fleet spire. As Solace stated, you still need to generate threat and that extra crit chance can go a ways to ensuring you maintain aggro if you're playing a tank.

    I think this is especially true for engineers, you don't have the damage multiplying abilities like attack pattern alpha etc and must rely on increasing your crtiical change and severity to hit those higher damage numbers.
