Greetings All! Welcome to the third edition of the 2020 Academy News! I am Michael Deputy Commandant of Starfleet Academy. This newsletter is an initiative from the Academy that is intended to keep you abreast of the latest news from across the United Federation of Planets.

• SFO STAFF ADDITIONS:
  New or Returning Personnel Officer / Gin'tak:
  
  TERRELL:
  Terrell has recently returned to the UFPlanets Community and he used to be in the SFO when it was a division back in the day! He wishes to return to a volunteer role under the new Division and help out the community!
  
  lukekillzz:
  Lukekillzz is returning to the community again to help with the STO Staff personnel duties. He's already been back forawhile and has been helping Solace with Special Forces, so this is great to see!
  
  HEYALLO:
  Heyallo is already a well-known name in this community who has been helping with several non-Trek games in the Holodeck Division. He has now joined the STO Staff team in efforts to help the community and the Staff team out!
  
  Pedigo:
  You may have already met Pedigo, perhaps he has been your RSO! He has been (and currently also is) with the Starfleet Academy, and now you will also be seeing him helping the community out with STO Divison's roster management and requests!
  
  Jestersmith:
  Someone who has been in the community for a good time and enjoys playing STO regularly and attending STO related events, Jestersmith has now decided to volunteer time with the STO Staff team and help the community as a Personnel Officer!
  
  darthnovawave:
  Darthnovawave has been an active member of this community and passionate about Star Trek and Star Trek Online. He has decided to step-up and help volunteer in the community.
  
  
• SFA STAFF ADDITION:
  Silek has made his presence known around the community and is always looking to help out where he can. With such an individual taking on RSO, it will be a natural position for him. We look forward to working with you!
  
  Emmy is a friendly name you've likely seen around the community, whether it's on the forums, TS or submitting a news article with the FNS. She will be a natural as a RSO and we're happy to have her onboard within the Academy.
  
  
• VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
  The UFP would not be the place it is today without our volunteers who selflessly sacrifice their time to help out. Check out the currently open volunteer positions, and how to apply for one, here.

UPCOMING EVENTS
The United Federation of Planets has a good number of events coming up! You can sign up for any of these events here:

• LORD OF THE RINGS ONLINE:
  Tuesday (TODAY), 3rd March at 2030 GMT/UFP; Deputy Head of FAB Saelanna I have a kinship based on the Laurelin [EN-RP] server; the kinship is called the United Free Peoples and is open to any UFP member who wishes to join us as we complete deeds, level characters, complete group content, or just chill for a drink in the Prancing Pony.
  
  Everyone is welcome to bring whichever character they want to, and popular vote gets to decide what we set out to accomplish.
  
  
• COMPANY OF HEROES 2:
  Wednesday, 4th March at 1900 GMT/UFP; Commanding Officer Bedders Greetings fellow Generals!
  
  Tonight we team up to grind our opponents under our treads, shoot them out of the skies, and generally wreck their day.
  
  
• STAR WARS THE OLD REPUBLIC:
  Thursday, 5th March at 1900 GMT/UFP; Commanding Officer Bedders Greetings fellow Champions!
  
  Tonight we perform one or more dangerous missions to aid the Galaxy in it's glorious fight!
  
  How many missions is determined by the galaxy's most wealthy, as they send urgent requests for help from all corners of the galaxy.
  
  We may be up against members of the Hutt Cartels, smugglers, pirates, or a large faction such as the Republic or Empire!
  
  It is hoped that all attending will make it back in one piece, but as ever - last messages to loved ones will be passed across should you fall in battle.
  
  
• KILLING FLOOR 1:
  Friday, 6th March at 2000 GMT/UFP; FNS Editor Infinity Zombies. Lots of them. Big ones, little ones. Armed and Dangerous. And all of them need to be stopped. It's Specimen Season!
  
  This event allows up to 6 players to work together to shoot zombies. Working as a team is a necessity, hence the requirement for Teamspeak (at least to be able to listen).
  
  
• SINS OF A SOLAR EMPIRE REBELLION:
  Saturday, 7th March at 1300 GMT/UFP; Event Officer Lars2510 This event will be a multi-hour session of Sins of a Solar Empire, using the ever amazing Star Trek Armada 3 total conversion mod (which can be found here). We will be starting a new Multiplayer game and will be playing cooperatively against AI opponents.
  
  
• STAR TREK ONLINE:
  Saturday, 7th March at 2000 GMT/UFP; Special Forces Commander Solace Greetings members! Its time for the latest instalment of the Special Forces Themed Event! This time we're going back in time to the Early 24th Century (2305-2363). We'll be using early Pre-TNG ships.
  
  
• STAR WARS THE OLD REPUBLIC:
  Sunday, 8th March at 0300 GMT/UFP; Event Officer Michael Greetings fellow Commanders (or ex-Commanders)!
  
  This event will help our guild rank up, by us completing our personal conquest goals together! It's a lot more enjoyable to get the weekly stuff done, if you're playing with friends.
  
  
• WORLD OF WARSHIPS EU/WARTHUNDER EU:
  Sunday, 8th March at 1400 GMT/UFP; Event Officer Lars2510 This event will be alternate World of Warships or Warthunder games. Please check the comments section below for which game it is tonight. Should everyone who attends want to play the other game, that will obviously happen Thumbs up We will be starting the first event with World Of Warships.
  
  
• STAR TREK ONLINE:
  Saturday, 14th March at 1900 GMT/UFP; SFA Executive Officer Michael Once the tour is done feel free to join us for some TFOs/Heroics (depending on which game we're in).
  
  This event will be reoccurring each week in a series of "Tour The Holdings" events that will encompass all the current fleet holdings for the STO Federation, KDF & SWTOR Republic & Sith, one holding randomly selected per week.
  
  
• JOINT COMMUNITY MEETING - MARCH 2020:
  Saturday, 14th March at 1900 GMT/UFP; Fleet Admiral Three Of Seven We have reached our first UFPAC month of the year, and that means the first community meeting too! The meeting will take place on March 14th, please come along and attend if you are able.
  
  If you have any questions or comments, then this is a great chance to bring them forward, or just listen in on what all of the divisions and departments have been doing recently! If you cannot attend but have a question you want to ask, you can send me a PM with the title "Community Meeting Question" and I'll make sure it’s asked during the Open Floor discussions. You will also be able to PM during the event if you have any last minute questions or points.
  
  

It is highly recommended that you keep one eye on the events page whenever you visit the site because random events are being added all the time!
