(Photo of one of her sister ships the USS Atlantis, leaving earth shipyards)

In the year 2294 the USS Testarossa was commissioned at the earth space dock as a Refit Excelsior class ship. After the launch of the USS Enterprise - NCC-1701-B allot of information was learned about the new refit of the excelsior class which helped shorten the the shakedown of the USS Testarossa.

Her first mission was to investigate the disappearance of the USS Jenolan, however this was fruitless as they could not locate the USS Jenolan.

One of her most notable discoveries was the civilisation on Angel I, she discovered an equivalent civilisation to mid 20th century earth. Due to them not being warp capable as of yet, no first contact was made however Angel I was kept under careful watch by the Federation due to its strategic position in the quadrant being near to the Romulan Neutral Zone.

She had her first refit in 2308 bringing it inline with other refit excelsior classes such as the USS Enterprise - NCC-1701-B.

After her refit the USS Testarossa was assigned to various areas of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants between 2308 and 2319.

In 2319 the USS Testarossa was assigned to the Alpha Quadrant and was tasked to protect federation assets in the quadrant, the USS Testarossa was one of the first federation vessels to have witnessed the Occupation of Bajor by the Cardassian Union, diplomatic talks were carried out however due to the Prime Directive nothing came about from this. The Captain at the time Captain Harry Ellison resigned his commission in protest.

During the Occupation of Bajor the USS Testarossa would continue to patrol the Alpha Quadrant and would unofficially keep an eye on the occupation in the hope that the information would help bring the federation to help the Bajorans.

During the Federation-Cardassion war the USS Testarossa kept a low profile only having small battles whilst continuing to patrol the Alpha Quadrant.

In 2369 whilst the USS Testarossa was continuing its mission in the Alpha Quadrant, it discovered that the Cardassians were pulling out of Bajor after stripping the planet of most of its natural resources. With the information that she had collected over 50 years when the Bajorans asked for the help from the Federation they quickly complied.

In 2372 the USS Testarossa was scheduled to be decommissioned after 78 Years of service to the Federation. However as the USS Testarossa returned to space dock the Dominion War had just begun, instead of being decommissioned, she was refit with new weapons and shields and sent back to the Alpha Quadrant.

During the Dominion War she once again kept a low profile, patrolling the areas in which were most at risk of being attacked by the Cardassian Union who had joined the Dominion a few years prior.

In 2375 the USS Testarossa joined the Federation Alliance Fleet in the Battle of Cardiassia. She survived the phase one with only minor damage however during phase two in which the Federation Alliance would force all Dominion forces from Cardassia and the Alpha Quadrant she was lost with all hands.

In 2407 the blueprints for the USS Testarossa NCC-2401-A was laid down and was approved by Starfleet Command. She was to be Sojourner Class Star Ship which was a variant on the Odyssey Class. However she had to be rushed into service and she was built with the Nacelles and Pylons of the Odyssey Class ship giving her an iconic look.

She was commissioned in 2410 and given to Captain Chidori Sagara to command her.

To this day the USS Testarossa continues to go where needed, boldly going where no one has gone before.

    U.S.S. Dauntless - NCC 71879

    Captain Ashryn Sol'ar Commanding

The Dauntless was put into commission on April 5th 2371. The Dauntless is a newer iteration of the Esteemed Galaxy Class and served as testbed for the brand new Mark XII Phaser beam arrays, Type 9 Photon Torpedoes and Type 5 Quantum Torpedoes. She was the first Galaxy class to be equipped with Quantum Torpedoes. She was intially put under the command of Captain Salavar T'vek and her First Officer Commander Charles Eve.

When the Dominion War broke out in 2373 the Dauntless was assigned to the 9th Fleet protecting Vega colony and the surrounding systems. However when open hostilities began between the Federation and the Dominion, Vega colony was one of the first Federation held worlds to be attacked, the 9th fleet was taken by surprise during fleet maneuvers by a Jem'Hadar attack wing. In the opening volley the Dauntless took heavy damage before she could raise her shields, a support beam on the bridge collapsed killing the command crew.

It was then a young Lieutenant J.G Ashryn Sol'ar took command of the bridge and managed to regroup with what was left of the 9th fleet rear guard. Although heavily damaged with most of her weapon systems offline and the warp drive heavily damaged, Lieutenant Ashryn decided they would stand there or die there. The engineering crew managed to restore Auxiliary support systems allowing the Phasers to come back online. The return volley of Phaser fire utterly obliterated the first 4 Jem'Hadar ships causing them to turn tail and retreat.

After the battle Starfleet Command issued Ashryn with a field promotion of Captain and gave her command of the Dauntless. The Dauntless continued to serve throughout the war taking part in Operation Return, Chin'toka and the battle for Cardassia. After the war the Dauntless underwent a major refit upgrading her defensive and scientific facilities.

She was also given a wing of advanced Tactical Valkryie class fighters pioneered by Lieutenant Commander Worf on the U.S.S. Typhon in 2371 (+1 for anyone who gets this reference!)

Captain Sol'ar is still in command of the Dauntless and is currently heading up the task force to deal with the re-emergence of the Borg Collective. Resistance is not futile.

    U.S.S. Halley’s Comet NCC-93113-A
    Built: 26/04/2361
    Retrofitted between: 08/01/2409
    Commissioned: 04/02/2410

She is one of the first Galaxy class starships ever made and one of the last to be refitted as the ageing class slowly phases out of service. The U.S.S. Halley’s Comet went into non-commissioned service on April 26th, 2361, she suffered from a very early flaw in the Warp Core design that nearly saw the entire Galaxy Class line being pulled from production. While her sister ships were corrected of this design flaw, she was not and so was ineligible for commission and assigned to Research and Development by the Starfleet Corps of Engineers, in which Starfleet often used her as a test bed for any advances that were to be put forth onto the Galaxy Class line before launching them into active service. This was her life until enough of her sister ships were finished, that Starfleet could risk them performing field testing themselves.

    usshcventralfarsml
This left the Halley subject to the most outlandish and clandestine sorts of research that Starfleet needed a test-bed for, and now without the restriction of it being a required technology for her class. This continued until her frame was modified too extensively and aged beyond serviceability.

But the Halley’s Comet now finds herself in service once again after having been decommissioned for some time, sitting in mothballs at a reserve yard at Utopia Planetia. As the Alpha and Beta Quadrants recover from the difficult and tragic loses of the Klingon and Iconian War, the Federation is suffering a dangerous decline in morale. Member worlds struggle with long forgot and petty rivalries, often choosing to maintain and serve their own local interests instead of contributing to one another and the Federation as a whole or maintaining its Starfleet.

In an effort to combat this mass demoralisation of its populace, the Federation and Starfleet pushed forth a rejuvenated effort into their exploration and science mandates. Seeking to primarily focus on building new ships. However, Starfleet had a sobering realisation, having lost so many resources during the wars, such as ships and people just to name a few; many of contributing member worlds were unable or unwilling to invest in any new ships and the Federation and its Starfleet were forced to instead look at some of the ageing space frames in their docks and perhaps having enough resources to get them back into active service.

The Halley’s Comet was to be one of the first ships to be refitted and reassigned but due to the various modifications she had undergone previously for R&D testing, it proved too difficult to install many of the new components she would require in order for her to be made active and as a result her refit took much longer than planned.

Her space frame having aged so much and been so extensively stressed by testing, most of the structural integrity had to be reinforced. Particularly in her Saucer and Neck. The Secondary hull fared much better and remained salvageable without much modification. Her Nacelles were beyond saving, and so retrofitted Ambassador class Nacelles meant for another R&D project were procured.

    usshcdorsclose

    usshcdorportnac

After nearly double the amount of time and effort that saw other similar mothballed ships made active, the Halley’s Comet has finally been commissioned and put into active service with the registry number NCC-93133 and given the appendix A denoting the drastic changes in her design structure.

The crew of the Comet often find themselves struggling with taming her systems and almost sentient like mood as the vessel that was once a test bed for the most advanced technologies, shows that there is more to her than meets the eye.

Solace, I try to improve on the Galaxy with my design but one must admit. There is no way to improve upon perfection. I am always in awe of how you display the Galaxy in all her primal glory, without the contamination of time. I like how the story explains how she has teeth.

I love your backstory Ramage! Fantasic read!

    NCC-92863 USS Longsword

    Attachment 12868

The Endeavor-class Tactical Star Cruiser known as the USS Longsword was commissioned in early 2410 at the Utopia Planitia Shipyards in response to escalating galactic tensions that ultimately led to the Iconian War. While the ship served with distinction in a number of pivotal battles during the war, only a select few knew the true extent of the ship's mission. While most know the ship to be one of a number of flagship dreadnoughts in service to Starfleet (currently the flagship of Starfleet's 411th Intelligence Fleet), a select few in the Federation know the ship is a mobile headquarters for covert operations conducted by the mysterious organization known as Section 31.

The Longsword has been fitted with a number of classified technologies, including among other things research labs exploring illegal genetic and cybernetic enhancement and captured alien weapons technologies, a sophisticated holodeck system built into the main bridge to allow the bridge crew to impersonate a multitude of species and bridge designs, and a classified branch of the Department of Temporal Investigations dedicated to covering up the highly commonplace incidents involving time travel, interdimensional incursions, and forays into parallel universes by the Longsword and the hundreds of ships and thousands of crew attached to her fleet.

The command staff in charge of these questionable activities is likewise not what one would expect to find on one of Starfleet's most advanced ships. Indeed, when one considers the command staff's backgrounds include a Klingon doctor specializing in genetic and cybernetic manipulation as the chief medical officer, an assassin from the Terran Empire as the chief of security, multiple ex-Borg, Remans, Breen, and other species from across all corners of the galaxy (and beyond), one would think the command staff roster was instead a list of the Federation's Most Wanted (which in some cases may or may not be true...).

While no officer in Starfleet today would fathom that a ship like the Longsword exists, few can deny that the ship has been pivotal in securing the Federation by any means possible. When the current turmoil engulfing the Federation and its allies finally reaches a quieter period, it will be interesting indeed to see if the Longsword and her crew are welcomed home as heroes or seen as just another of a seemingly endless stream of galactic criminals to be dealt with.
