I got the Verne and the Klein (and the T5 Wells & Mobius) classes when they came out in lockboxes.... so no reason for me to buy this pack... there must be another ship coming to the zstore (or skin update) soon...

As much as it pains me to say it, this sort of thing is going to continue to get worse because all those of you who went and bought the Legendary bundle basically told Cryptic you are happy buying packs that cost upwards of hundreds of dollars/Euros/pounds.

People can feel like they can justify their personal spending or value attributed to items for sale in the store but the fact remains the more people keep paying huge prices the more Cryptic are going to keep pushing out extremely expensive stuff.

As a less well off casual player of STO it’s now got to the stage where I am simply priced out of much of the new gear and items. I simply do not have the funds to pay outright nor the time to grind for them.

You realize in this pack there is a Promotion Ship, a Lock Box Ship and a Lobi Ship and they are an account unlock for $147:

$140+ for three pixel starships don’t strike me as a good deal no matter how you spin it.

The apparent value of those ships is only because they have been put in gamble boxes or similar to artificially inflate their value through forced rarity.
If they put them in the c-store then competed of the other T6 ships their value should be identical; but again they are giving them a forced sense of rarity by making them only available at an occasional sale price to most people.

One to tier ship is not worth any more than any other top tier ship. They are all equal in stats mostly and in fact the current c-store ships I’d argue are worth MORE than any gamble ship because they have had more effort put into them - multiple customisation options, bridge designs, more hull materials and account unlocks.
The value of lockbox, promo and lobi ships is a false creation from Cryptic controlling the market.

I certainly don’t consider paying $100+ for them good value.

Ahh the "run-of-the-mill statement"... I wondered when it would show up...

Ofc they can't force us to buy sh*t from them (and I bet my a** they hate it!). But with stuff the fake discounts, "advertisements" like "only a limited time" and so on they try to soften us up to fall for the scheme. I played World of Warships a long time, they do the exact same strategy but there the playerbase is even so dumb to pay up to 130-140€ for only one ship! Or the lootbox simulator games Electronic Arts trys to sell us these days...

No matter it it's the games industry, Hollywood or Netflix/HBO/SyFy, big tech (Apple ect...):
Don't think, just consume and be happy, be grateful and look forward to consume the next product.
