    So I see on the STO 1st Fleet message of the day it asks for members to contribute to HoK Fleet Colony on the KDF side. How do I go about doing this? Can I send resources with my main Fed character or is this just a request to make a KDF character and join the fleet to help?

    yes it is exactly Question number 2, if you have a KDF alt, or would like to make one, if they can contribute in anyway towards the KDF Fleet holdings that would be excellent, and Unfortunately there is currently no way for a Federation Faction to donate to a Klingon Faction and Vice versa

    Ehhh... That's not ENTIRELY true.

    The game has been heading toward a more unified faction structure. With the Khitomer Alliance and the introduction of the AFS, I am hopeful that cross-faction Fleets are not too far off.

    Another route that could be taken is that the AFS become their own faction, joining the Federation, Klingon Defense Forces, the Romulan Republic and the Dominion as an amalgamation. Alternatively, the AFS could end up being the newest Recruits, joining the Deltas, the Temporals, and the Gammas.

    Anyway, I guess what I'm implying is that while there may be some animosity between the FEDs and the KDF, they are not actively enemies. Still, it would be nice to dock my KDF Warbird at ESD.

    I could see maybe cross-faction armadas, but fleets would be a bit trickier. Most of the holdings are the same and just swap out the NPC spawns to the appropriate faction. The Starbase though is radically different between FED and KDF, and scrapping both for a common Alliance starbase holding is likely to anger players. Based on what we're seeing in the latest episode releases, I suspect the Alliance is going to be implemented more as an "Easy button" so the writers and voice actors don't need to create and record unique versions of the script for each faction. I just don't see Cryptic overhauling a core game mechanic like the faction system, which would require an overhaul of the story arcs too. It would be easier just to make a new game.

    It has nothing to do with lore or game story.

    Fleet system was made a while back and I don't expect it to be updated from its current structure, they're as it is all hands on deck even on the smallest projects these days.

    There's a handful of communities with T5 KDF + FED colonies, we're one of them.
