The title speaks for itself, why does Starfleet and the Romulan Republic involve intself so deeply in a Klingon civil war? If we think back to TNG, Picard deliberately avoided taking part in hostilities, as not to drag Starfleet into the conflict. Even when challenged by Worf, who goes on to join Gowrons fleet, he refuses.

Yet, as soon as the situation kicks off in the Great Hall, we're guns blazing and involving ourselves in what is quintisensially an internal affair of the Klingon Empire. Surely this breaks the Prime Directive?

Did Cryptic score a massive own goal with this one? It would make sense for a KDF specific story arc, but for a wider FE arc? It would have been better to see it from different perspectives, with the Federation and Romulan Republics assisting the Empire from a distance. Defending their boarders and figuring out the mysteries of Ja'ula's mycelial weapon.

Honestly it might be as simple as 'we just got out of this long arse war with these guys we really do not want to go back.' Because J'ula has made it pretty damned clear she is rolling things all the way back to 2250s as far as relations with other powers go. This dosen't just mean federatiin but everyone and the Republic even as strong as it is really cant afford to get into a fight right now and J'ula seems to think a melee a trois is a good idea to keep klingons pure.

Long story short j'ula wins new war with the kings. So everyone is in best intrest to make sure j'ula dosent win

The situation is a bit different, when J'ula showed up and was riding havok the alliance was determined to stop her and she has an extremely powerful weapon and when the civil war broke out we were already to deep involved in the entire situation also keep in mind she was attacking alliance forces so she pulled us into this war.

It was a general war before it took the civil war turn

The war was taking it's toll and I imagine J'ula needed new allies, she found allies among present day Klingons which ended up making it making it into a civil war.

Storywise, it is J'ula drawing them in by hijacking Fed ships with computer viruses and causing collateral problems for the Rommies. In real, practical terms, it is Cryptic's way of finally paying attention to the horribly neglected KDF faction while not alienating the majority Fed players out there because for once there are updates that don't center around them. If you only play Fed, it is a shock to roll a KDF toon and see just how few ship options you get, and until recently how dated the graphics were by comparison.
