I have a CD version of Bridge Commander, v. 1.1 with Kobayashi Maru, and it’s awfully slow and unstable. It starts great, with high FPS, but after a short battle or warp, the FPS become extremely low - first only with outside camera, but then inside as well. After a while, it always crashes.

This is an old game an my PC easily exceeds recommended specs. What can I do to fix it? I tried different compatibility modes, resolutions, graphics settings, nothing really works.

I had severely low FPS and stuttering a year ago and it turned out to be the dynamic frequency scaling of the CPU. Have you tried setting your CPU power plan to high performance? This should prevent your cores from downclocking.

I had a quick look around online and it seems others have had this issue too, but I can't seem to find a solution.

It's likely related to how the game engine talks to the graphics driver. Is the game OpenGL/DirectX? I can't remember.

My best guess would be to right click the exe file and use Windows 7 compatibility mode.

Also what Jordan said above should help a lot with any older games.

    Happy Bridge Commanding! Nebula
