Greetings All! Welcome to the ninth edition of the 2020 Academy News! I am Michael, Deputy Commandant of Starfleet Academy. This newsletter is an initiative from the Academy that is intended to keep you abreast of the latest news from across the United Federation of Planets.

SAVE THE DATE
The 57th United Federation of Planets Awards Ceremony (UFPAC) will be 26th of September, at 21:30 UFP time.

This event is held roughly every three months and awards members with rank advancements and medals which are awarded for various achievements. To get a promotion and/or a medal you need to be active on the forums or in game, attending events and participating in forum discussions. Then you stand a good chance of getting noticed and receiving a nomination for an award from one of the CL6, CL5, CL4 members or from a subscriber of the UFP.

• VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
  The UFP would not be the place it is today without our volunteers who selflessly sacrifice their time to help out. Check out the currently open volunteer positions, and how to apply for one, here.

The United Federation of Planets has a good number of events coming up! You can sign up for any of these events here:

• SEA OF THIEVES:
  Thursday, 24th September at 1900 GMT/UFP; Event Officer Chris Wilkinson The plan for this event is to have a lot of fun on the high seas in the Sea of Thieves in preperation for the UFPAC. We'll be doing random missions and perhaps if the group want we'll try to complete some of the more significant quests on offer.
  
  If we do have more than 4 people, we'll split up into crews and each one will do their own thing and if we're lucky, we'll end up in the same lobby. Also let me know if you plan to play on PC or Xbox before the night so we know whether we'll be using an Xbox Party or Teamspeak to communicate.

• HEARTHSTONE:
  Friday, 25th September at 1900 GMT/UFP; Fleet Admiral ThreeOfSeven Hearthstone is a free to play cardgame by Blizzard, you can read about the Battlegrounds mode here, and with recent changes that were made, multiple people can queue up at the same time, where it can reach a point of becoming a private lobby, which if we get enough people, would be the aim.
  
  If you are interested, feel free to stop by, you can download Hearthstone from the main page here or through the launcher. We will be on the European server, but as it's a free game, it's easy to switch between servers!

• STAR TREK ONLINE:
  Saturday, 26th September at 1900 GMT/UFP; Special Forces Commander Solace Greetings everyone,
  
  To spice things up a little bit before this months UFPAC, I'm hosting a STO based Hide N Seek event! The rules are simple:
  
  Seeker disabled their ingame HUD.
  Hiders have to hide!
  Emotes are allowed!
  
  Lets have a laugh eh!
  
  
• STAR TREK ONLINE:
  Saturday, 26th September at 2000 GMT/UFP; Special Forces Commander Solace It is once again time for another UFPAC, and with that another Pre-UFPAC event in STO!
  
  This time the Pre-UFPAC event will take place on a yet to be determined location. As usual we'll be gather together to take a fleet photo (Which can be found here). I ask anyone who wants to take part to show up in your fleet uniform(First Contact Uniform). If you're a member of our Armada, you are allowed to turn up in your fleet's uniform.
  
  If time and attendance permits us, we will be doing group TFOs. You do not require to fly anything fancy, and you can join with a character that is lvl 50-65.

• UFP AWARD CEREMONY:
  Saturday, 26th September at 2130 GMT/UFP; Head of Technical Services Jordan The UFPAC is the United Federation of Planets Award Ceremony.
  
  The event is held roughly every 3 months and awards members with rank advancements, as well as medal achievements. It is also used as an opportunity to announce important events or discussions within the UFP and allows members at the end of the event to have the floor should they wish to bring any subject forward with the community.

• STAR WARS THE OLD REPUBLIC:
  Saturday, 26th September at 2300 GMT/UFP; Event Officer Michael Greetings fellow Commanders (or ex-Commanders)!
  
  This event will help our guild rank up, by us completing our personal conquest goals together! It's a lot more enjoyable to get the weekly stuff done, if you're playing with friends.
  
  
• STAR TREK ONLINE:
  Saturday, 17th October at 1900 GMT/UFP; SFA Executive Officer Michael Do you feel a little bewildered by all the various offerings at the fleet holdings in STO and TOR? Are you new to the game or have you returned from a lengthy absence? Join us at for an opportunity to see what's on offer at the UFPs fleet/guild holdings. Once the tour is done feel free to join us for some TFOs/Heroics.
  
  This event will be reoccurring each month in a series of "Tour The Holdings" events that will encompass all the current fleet holdings for the STO Federation, KDF & SWTOR Republic & Sith, what we explore will be determined by those attending.
  
  

It is highly recommended that you keep one eye on the events page whenever you visit the site because random events are being added all the time!
