Dealing with the fallout of her recent actions, Burnham agrees to represent the Federation as Discovery takes part in a debate dealing with the possible ramifications of realising highly valuable - but politically sensitive - data regarding the Burn.

Some promo shots of the upcoming episode can be found here. It's highly speculated this episode will make strong references back to the 2 part story "Unification" during the era of TNG and we're also going to see the reappearance of the Vulcans - and potentially the Romulans.

"Unification III" is episode 7 of 13. (Halfway there effectively!)

I think it's my fave episode the series I loved it and all it did, it brought in TNG and the new Picard with the Qowat Milat. You knew by the title it would be touching on the TNG with the title Unification III but they way they did it I thought was pretty good it also makes last weeks episode more relevant now with Burnham's going rogue again in that episode and this one looks to be providing her with a grounding for coming episodes with acceptance of herself and her circumstances.

I liked that Burnham thought the Vulcans would be the ones to side with her but it was the Romulans who were sympathetic. I liked the reason for the Dilithium shortage was because the Federation grew too big, makes sense since it looked like that had a presence in each of the quadrants.

Anyone else get a feeling that Romulan aspects are somewhat predominant in this council? Felt that way to me.

I could be wrong but I thought it was a Pure Romulan, a Pure Vulcan and a Hybrid that made up the Quorum so it was actually well balanced.
Overall though as usual I thoroughly enjoyed this weeks installment.

I'd need to re-watch Season 2 but I do recall the reason her mother is still alive is because she made the red angel suit prototype when Burnham was a young child and got trapped in the future.

She was originally 900 odd years in the future when control had destroyed everything and was tethered to her location I guess upon preventing that from happening she survived somehow and was expected that's why they were referring to contacting Terralysium for information to see if her mother had survived or not.

I noticed that the name “Nevar” is reverse for “raven”. I wonder if that was intentional from the writers.

I noticed that the name “Nevar” is reverse for “raven”. I wonder if that was intentional from the writers.

It's spelled "Ni'Var" though.

I loved the reaction of the Admiral, Knowing the importance of getting this data. and realizing "Wait. we have Spock's sister here.. " Also loved the continuation of the lore added with STicard and the fact the badges they had is a literal merge of the Raptor of the romulans and the IDIC of Vulcans.

I thought it was funny that Burnham immediately thought negative of the romulans even though the Romulans were the ones who wanted stay in the Federation and sided with her and wanted to give Burnham the data.
