I think what appealed to me most about the original film was the mystery of the whole world they were entering and how outlandish and alien it all was. SG1 fell into the trap imo of just being "another sci-fi show" once it got to the latter seasons. I know it had a world built up around it but it kinda loses the mystery and awe for me that the film started.
I'd like to see any new series get back to being more grounded in the protagonists being thrown into an unknown situation rather than them being allies with a bajillion alien of the week groups, fighting the "baddie of the season" and having access to all manner of advanced tech & knowledge. Maybe a more condensed series like the newer Trek shows, Westworld, Stranger Things etc.
I always found it really odd that they tried to drop in 2 main actors from Farscape into those later seasons. I understand the desire to bring in fresh blood to revive a show, but I don't think grabbing actors from another sci-fi show that was long in tooth at that point was the right call. At least we had Atlantis for a while that tried to freshen things up a bit.

Ben Browder and Claudia Black wasn't too bad in the show Ben took longer to settle in I thought out the 2 but I get what you mean I thought why also have to say though of them I preferred Black she fitted into her role well, she loves the genre and also loves doing voiceovers she been in so many games its unreal Dragon Age Origins, Crysis, Uncharted 2 and 3 Gears 3 and so many more
