Signing the roll call just now brought to mind some thing I REALLY love about UFP. The fact that UFP does NOT have a requirement that members have to play a minimum number of hours per week, or have a minimum contribution requirement per week etc. Since the pandemic started, unlike millions of others who have lost their jobs, my job has been busier than ever. With the long hours I've been putting in, I just haven't had the time, or the energy, to play. I've even missed out on all the cool free stuff from events because I just haven't been able to play.

Between my 3 accounts (mine, my wife's and my sons) I have a TON of toons, in several different fleets. Although not as many different fleets as before. More than a few of those fleets dropped me because I wasn't playing enough, or not contributing enough etc. Even one fleet that I have (had) been with from the time I first started playing booted me.

UFP however, has this quarterly roll call, as long as you respond to the roll call every three months, you remain a member in good standing, doesn't matter whetheer you play sveral hourss per day, or zero hours per quarter, as long as you respond to the roll call, you remain a member.

I just want to say how much I appreciate that fact, and when I finally get the time to play again, I now have several toons that will be joining 5th fleet...or maybe even 6th fleet by then.

I have said for a long time that out of all the fleets I have been in UFP was the best and this just confirms that belief.

Its one of the more unique aspects of the UFP that makes our community that much more special - we are an actual community not just a gaming group.

The leadership is made up of dedicated volunteers who all care about the welfare of the membership. Our STO division as a case in point sees our fleet resources as something to help people, not beat people over the head with to keep them in line.

I do feel it is fair to state that there are 'inactivity purges' on the in-game fleets from time to time, due to the silly upper-cap on membership numbers within a fleet. However, if you do end up on the wrong side of such a purge, all you need do is submit an invite form and you're brought back in at the level of access you had before - no questioned asked and no quibbles - just "Glad to have you back!"

I'm happy that you find this such a welcoming and enjoyable place to play in and hope you continue to frequent our little corner of the universe.

The UFP is a very welcoming community and it's been an online home to me to over 8 years now. I love the interaction in all areas of the UFP and I have loved volunteering in many aspects of the community and getting to know new people through STO or other supported games.

Even if you take a break from STO or any game because of real life or you burn out on something, you are always welcomed back to the in-game fleets & guilds with open arms. I host a weekly STO event on Saturdays if you have the time to come along and hang out with us, you'd be most welcome!
