It'll probably reset the skills again but they don't want to say anything as it'll anger folk

• All skills will be reset.
• All Personal Space traits will be cleared.
• All Starship traits will be cleared.
• Two randomly selected Space Reputation traits will be cleared.
• One random Active Space trait will be cleared.

These are undocumented features, and will continue with every regular maintenance. This is designed to keep trait and skill selections from stagnating. This is the only notice of this policy.

I'm waiting for them to say "to heck with it" and just make skill/trait selection a RNG thing instead of letting us pick.

You're not thinking big enough; you gotta think like Cryptic does!

"For the low price of 3000Z you can get your chosen traits locked into their selections for 30 days. After this time period ends skills will be respec'd randomly unless a further "Elite Skill Save Token" is purchased from the C-store.
Tokens can only be bought during special sales throughout the year, which we will of course not be advertising"
