Greetings All! Welcome to the twelth and final edition of the 2020 Academy News! This edition was put together with help from Chris Wilkinson, the Recruitment Coordinator of Starfleet Academy. I am Enlistednut09, Commandant of Starfleet Academy. This newsletter is an initiative from the Academy that is intended to keep you abreast of the latest news from across the United Federation of Planets.

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS

• Deputy Head of Gaming:
  (From the Head of Community Gaming Sammygm)
  Mack:
  The position of Deputy Head of Gaming has been vacant ever since Adster94 stepped down back 2 years ago, and ever since then I have been on the look out for someone that might be able to replace him, until now! Please join me in congratulating Mack's promotion to Deputy Head of Gaming.
  
  You might be wondering why I decided not to open up this position for anyone to apply. To be upfront about it is that I had this appointment in mind for quite a few months now. I looked for members that had a good understanding of both Star Trek Online and Non-Trek Gaming, and that had great history of management within the UFP. Mack's effort to revitalise SFO and making it work within the current state of the game, and his management style within SFO, coupled that with his increasing interest in Non-Trek games makes him the perfect candidate to take on the role of Deputy Head of Gaming.
  
  Prior to his appointment to Deputy Head of Gaming, Mack was already hard at work with other divisions to make some great events for the last UFPAC of the year. As Deputy Head of Gaming, Mack and Bridger will work together in finding a suitable replacement to take over Mack's old position. Mack will work closely with me and the other divisions in shaping the future of the community's gaming side of things.

  SFO Commanding Officer:
  Jestersmith:
  I want to first off thank Bridger & Novalance for the amazing experience. We grew from a couple of individuals managing a division to becoming good friends. When I became the SFO Commanding Officer I had ideas which could help the division. Along with Bridger and Novlance's help, this did happen. I've personally achieved the personal goal of high STO activity within the community and lately thought perhaps it was time for another enthusiastic CO to be given the same opportunity I was give and take the division to new heights. Congratulations to Jestersmith on his successful appointment!

  Special Ops Commander:
  Pedigo:
  Pedigo Has been a regular in the special ops events since he joined the fleet he regularly takes charge of a team in these weekly events and has a good rapport with other members.
  
  Pedigo has decided he wanted to increase his involvement in events management and will now work alongside Solace in managing the Special Ops Team of STO and help the ongoing development of the community participation for the game he is very passionate about and for this we would like to welcome him to the Staff Team!

  Redshift:
  Redshift Has been playing STO since launch and became a member of the UFPlanets Community in 2014, Redshift has decided he wanted to increase his involvement in fleet activities and help the community division for the game he is very passionate about and for this we would like to welcome him to the Staff Team!
  
  
• VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
  
  The UFP would not be the place it is today without our volunteers who selflessly sacrifice their time to help out. Check out the currently open volunteer positions, and how to apply for one, here. If you don't find something there that aligns with your interests, you can always fill out the volunteer interest form to express your desire for something specific to help our community grow. Use the bottom section of the form for that and make sure you treat it just as importantly as an application for an open position. Put in as many details as possible and thank you for your interest!

• THE EXPANSE SEASON 5 - WATCH PARTY:
  On Wednesday the 23rd of December at 1900 GMT/UFP; SFHolo Event Officer Th3TrueLuke So the time has come and Season 5 is here! Join us in a UFP watch party on Wednesday nights to experience the Expanse together, Bring snacks, Drinks and some Lasagna!
  
  Just to be clear this is not a game it is a viewing event, and will need to own amazon prime,

• HALO: THE MASTER CHIEF COLLECTION:
  On Wednesday the 23rd of December at 1930 GMT/UFP; Holodeck CO Bedders Halo: The Master Chief Collection is a collection of first-person shooter video games in the Halo series. Halo Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4 will all be there by the end of 2020. And thanks to the miracles of remade graphics, we have some spicy new cutscenes and redone graphics for the older games.
  
  In this event we will be running through the campaigns chronologically (Halo Reach, Halo 1, Halo 2, Halo 3: ODST, Halo 3, Halo 4, Halo 5). We will split up into smaller fireteams as necessary (some of the games have a 2-person limit, others have 4) depending on how many players attend. Please make sure you have an up-to-date copy of the game that we are playing on the day. It can be purchased from either the Microsoft Store or Steam as they both work together.
  
  So come, grab the cola and pizza, and relive the legend of Halo Night.

  Your team has crash-landed on an alien planet. You have nothing except for the scattered debris burning around you, and the MultiTool clutched tightly in your hand. Oh - and your wits, for what they're worth when surrounded by predatory indigenous lifeforms.
  
  Your mission was the colonisation of planet XH-ER472. Since you didn't make it that far you guess this planet is as good as any other to start colonising.

• STAR TREK ONLINE:
  On Saturday the 26th of December at 2000 GMT/UFP; STO Special Ops Commander Solace Greetings members! Welcome to Special Forces Saturday!
  
  This is event is open everybody to have some fun and hang out with fleet mates!
