I really want a toon from the discovery era because I love those sound effects. I have a mirror warship, and while I realize it's a tactical captain's dream, my tac captain isn't a discovery era captain. The thought of leveling up the reputations on a discovery era tac captain seems a bit wasteful considering I already have a fully utilized tac captain...
So I thought about maybe using a discovery era toon as my main engineer...but that mirror warship wasn't cheap, and I don't want to waste it.
Would it be really wasteful and stupid to use that ship on a captain that isn't a tac?

Not at all! Don't let career worry you so much about your decision. If you're looking to chase the absolute best DPS numbers then you would want to roll a tactical captain, sure you'll be locked out of certain meta traits and powers like Good Day to Die but its not the be all and end all. Mentioned User Morris would be the best equipped to talk about Engineer DPS as he has a very high DPS temporal Donnie build
