    Diablo IV is still away, however PoE 2 launches on April 16.
    Path of Exile 2 is still being worked on, however PoE1 expansion releases on 16th April.

    - Any micro transaction (which are all mainly cosmetics) you purchased in PoE 1 carry forward to PoE 2
    - New 7 act campaign, new skill gem system, new items
    - New engine, new graphics, new classes, new combat style
    - You will be able to to access endgame of PoE 1 as well as original Path of Exile story lines.

    This just looks amazing. I had completely forgotten they were even working on a sequel. This is really looking to give Diablo a run for its money! Also, I can't help but notice how both franchises are moving in a very similar direction aesthetically, albeit PoE still feeling slightly more impersonal to me (not in a bad way, kind of like the Souls games).

    Looks like this will be the first game I touch when I free myself from the ordeal that is my thesis. (aside from World of Warcraft)

    I will be starting fresh characters on 16th.

    Also, I'm amazed how they just refused to "vulture" their customers. Anything you purchased in PoE1 will be in PoE2... respect. Not a studio who complains "we will charge because we have to make money". This attitude is a fresh change in the gaming industry currently and rather rare.

    Plus ensuring you can play everything from PoE1 while on the new game engine of PoE2... I wonder how that works? This is some impressive work they've done.

    I thought PoE2 will not release until 2022 or even 23?

    What will release on Friday is the new League (Ultimatum), but that will still be PoE1. It's "just" another league like all the others coming every 3 months.

    Actually you're right. PoE2 release is sometime this year (unknown) and the PoE1 expansion releases on 16th. I'll edit the topic accordingly, thanks!
