I have personally never cared for PvP. A friend of mine who was an avid WoW player said: "Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to PvP."

So the first time I entered PvP in STO was a couple of days ago when I saw that it was one of my Endeavors. I thought: sure, why not?

As soon as I spawned on the map, I got two shots off of my ship before I was immediately (and I mean immediately) annihilated. My first reaction was "wow, that was fast."

I respawned, raced to the enemy position, and then I was dead. As in, I couldn't even say "one Mississippi" before my ship exploded in a fiery inferno before my eyes, taking a very small portion of my pride with it.

I figured that there was no way I can match the OpFor, so I just went ahead and kept at it so I could get the Endeavor reward. I wasn't getting mad that I spent the majority of my time in the map awaiting the respawn countdown to complete as I had seen that I just couldn't compete.

These must have been some seriously tuned builds. I could do nothing more than to tip my hat to my opponent for such an extremely, well-conditioned load-outs. I have no desire to enter PvP again unless it's for an Endeavor, but I was just amazed at how quickly these people were making mince-meat of one another.

PvP in this game is utterly broken and is essentially the worst kind of pay-2-win ever.
The guys that are annihilating you in seconds and are essentially unkillable are flying ridiculous cheese builds with every exploit finely tuned to kill players in seconds. It’s absolutely no fun to take part in and is unlikely to ever improve.

Even if you survive an opening attack you’ll find your own attacks on these guys are useless because they are running with every immunity boosting, max speed, instant heal, untargetable buff out there and getting these things to work near continually.

I remember a time when PvP was indeed fun. I used to PvP a lot and at that time when consoles and C-store ships were just becoming a thing, the player base did infact roar against it. In my old fleet plus within UFP we'd have so many PvP matches going on through the UFPAC or Armada Events.

I think you want a taste of PvP you should visit the Kerrat system. Assuming its still around and the high tiered PvPers (like Sad Pandas) still play and go into those zones, you will experience but a feel of what Sul Matuul means

As a PvP lover....STO by far has the worst most toxic PvP I've ever seen. It just isn't worth it unless you're willing to put time and billions upon billions of ec into it.

It's a haven for pay to win and at this point in the game I never expect it to get any better.

As someone that hates PVP, I really hate PVP in STO, especially space PVP, if you are "lucky" you will fight against the non-space-wizard build that can be fun.

Some people's preferred PvP playstyle is griefing. They get pleasure from annoying other players. All PvP games have this issue more or less.

This is the only game I've played where it was not PvP. This kind of stuff is always around, the RUST'esque attitudes and griefing, but most PVPers aren't like that. I spent a lot of time playing ARK and ATLAS. You'll always have to defend yourself from the occasional jackhat, but I think the majority of PvP is played on hosted servers where driving away all the noobs leads to a dead playfield.

Some people have troll mindset and basically are a***oles. The only thing they hate is when they're ignored. They're not worth your energy.

PvP, regardless of game, definitely comes off as a playground for those drunk on the haterade. I will continue to avoid it unless and Endeavor has a task for me to complete one. Then I'll go, get shot up, respawn, and get my endeavor points.
