    I bought my wife a Cameo for Mother's Day. If you're not familiar with it, it's where you pay to have a celebrity send a personal video to someone as a gift.

    While I was there I pulled up Star Trek, and thought peeps might like to see who's getting paid the most for a personal shout out.

    Not everyone does these, so people like Sir Patrick aren't even in the mix.

    Never knew that existed... pretty cool. And some are quite affordable... will keep this site in mind for any really special occasions for people who are otherwise impossible to find a good present for...

    I wonder how they set the pricing - it wouldn't surprise me if there was a simple algorithm that automatically increases based on number of searches or requests, like surge pricing Smile

    From what I understand each individual sets their own rates and Cameo gets a 25% cut of each sale. It seems steep on the face of it to me, but each video by itself is probably only a fraction of what they'd get for an in person appearance at a convention and such.

    So Picardo there for example would be getting $112.50 each time before he pays the taxman.

    Exactly - and based on the reviews most actually take a little time to do a nice and personalized job of it so its not like a ten second autograph signing. Of course it is a lot of money, but it did not some seem 'excessive' to me (when you ignore the absolute top ... I mean good for them if they can get that kind of cash, I just rather pay the mortgage...)

    Apparently John De Lancie is dropping details about Picard in his Cameos to people. He said in one that they were filming seasons two and three at the same time.
