There are four pieces on that jacket indicating rank. Was the costume designer full of self-doubt that they had to make a uniform that practically screams, "I AM THE CAPTAIN, NO REALLY, I'M IMPORTANT! LOOK, IT SAYS SO HERE AND HERE AND HERE AND HERE!"

A new trailer has dropped and you should find it at the top of this page assuming they don't do a region lock like they have before.

Just another quick peek before the episode threads make their return next week, this is the 32nd Century Federation President, played by Chelah Horsdal, who you may recognise from her supporting role with The Man in the High Castle as Helen Smith. The character is viewed in some quarters as a fanservice nod/homage to the DS9 era, as they're a mix of Bajoran/Cardassian/Human ancestry.
