    Celebrating 55 Years

    Greetings Captains!

    On this day, September 8th 1966, the Star Trek franchise began its journey into popular culture and history. The first aired episode was "The Man Trap" (though it was actually the 6th episode produced) introducing us to the Enterprise and her crew. The journey continued with the Animated Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space 9, Voyager, Enterprise, Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks and will carry on with the upcoming Prodigy and Strange New Worlds. In total there has been roughly 800 episodes within the franchise to date, alongside the 13 strong Movie series, featuring the TOS era, TNG era and the current reimagined adventure in the Kelvin Timeline which went back to a new TOS era. Few other franchises have achieved the level of influence on culture that Trek has.

    Star Trek has inspired hundreds, thousands, millions of people across the years and the globe and has shaped aspects of life as we know it today. It showed things such as hand held tablet computers, flip and badge communicators, motion activated automatic doors (with their iconic swoosh sound) amongst many other things. While much of this technology remains in the realm of science fiction, including warp drive, many aspects thought up on the series became the inspiration for ideas and many of these reached reality years later and became part of everyday life.

    To mark the anniversary, you may have seen the news that a number of classic Trek titles have been rereleased on GOG.com and these are:

    Elite Force & Elite Force 2
    Hidden Evil
    Away Team
    Bridge Commander
    Starfleet Command III

    So that means it's time for a giveaway! 10 lucky winners can have their choice of one of the above classics. The giveaway is open to all registered members of CL3 and above, running until Friday 17th September Noon UTC (13:00 BST) with the winners being announced later that day. The raffle will open shortly, so grab a ticket when the banner appears and throw your name into the ring!

    Was just about to post here about the GOG releases Tongue Out Was a nice surprise. Hopefully this means they might get more in the future. Birth of the Federation would be nice. DS9 Harbinger and The Fallen, A Final Unity would be nice too and maybe Generations if possible, although I know that it damn hard to get running on modern PC's.

    That being said Happy Star Trek day everybody!
