This thread is for the pre and post discussion of the Season 4 finale "Coming Home" - this will be a spoiler filled discussion so if you've found your way past the warnings in the activity stream and the spoiler tag on the thread, this is your last chance to turn back, or at least it will be at the end of this first post. You have been warned!

With the announcement that CBS pulled Discovery from a uniform international distribution until early-mid 2022, I'll keep making the threads for those that can see it, but I'll not be including polls for this season.

Planetary evacuations are underway as the DMA bears down on Earth and Ni'var. Aboard Discovery, time is almost up for the crew to find a way to clearly communicate with Species 10-C and prevent disaster.

"Coming Home" is the finale episode, 13 of 13 and brings Season 4 to a close. Discovery will return with Season 5 next year, as will the episode threads.

This season was not bad except for the end and book to me in that world would never have happened IO hate it when they do ok I dont want to put in spoilers but I thought it stupid.

Yeah, I generally liked the season too, but thought Book's character arc seemed off too. As I think about Discovery compared to other Trek shows, I think the biggest problem is they have too many "named" characters to keep track of and use.

Most Trek shows have had around half a dozen "core" characters that get most of the attention and solve all the problems, plus maybe a few supporting characters and that's where all the attention was spent. Discovery tries to make several bridge officer, 2 doctors, several engineering team officers, plus several key "guest" cast members important for the given season's story arc. They do fine developing some of those characters, but efforts to throw in backstory and key roles for everyone makes the story feel forced and unnatural for those extra cast members. I think if they just pared back on the number of people they focus on they'd probably be a lot smoother progressing both their characters as well as the overall story arcs. As it is now it is hard to keep track of such a large cast, let alone get invested at an emotional level with all of them.

I I had a question about the last episode. This is more of an error via streaming, around 22:25 of the episode, the language ( which I have Greer changed not know how to change) went from English to.. Italian?
I haven’t been able to finish the episode.
I tried google it how to change it, but to no avail.
It’s starts in English, but then it switched to Italian I think… at first I thought it was apart of the show and maybe the universal translators went offline for dramatic effect of the show, then I realized… it wasnt
