I have been a Star Trek (and Sci-Fi in general) fan and gamer for as long as I can remember. I remember seeing an episode of TOS and being awe struck at the fact that in this show was the best to see of what humanity could offer the universe.
Being the weird geek in school meant I never had friends, birthday parties or things deemed the normal childhood experience (something I have heard a lot of Trek fans share in similar ways over the years), But I had Spock, Kirk, McCoy and the others, Later Picard, Data and TNG and beyond to show how good we could all be without bullying, hatred and intolerance.
We might not be there yet be the idea that we can is something I hold very dear to my heart thanks in no small way to Star Trek.

Hi and welcome to our community.
I see you have already settled in and did some exams with great success already. Very nice job you did there.
As of your story, very emotional and I think there will be many that can relate to that. But you also mentioned something very important, and that is what message Star Trek brings to the public. As the vulcans say: infinite diversity in infinite combinations.
Star Trek is all about getting along with everyone, no bullying, nothing wrong with who or what you are, no worries at all on earth. An ideal world to live in.
Hope you will feel yourself like that in this little community that also tries to bring that message to the people.
