I would go with Corrosive if I had a choice. The visuals are better. 😁 (Space Barbie is the true endgame.)

Their base damage is the same, their [Proc] chance is the same. But give me the damage resistance debuff and shield-ignoring DoT of the Corrosives over the heal and max 10% damage boost of the Assimilateds.

I do like the 'tractor beam' like look of the Assimilated, but I've been looking at them forever.

Had to hunt for which character had them, but I've still got some spare weapon packs back from when I needed to scratch up some Lobi for ground weapons. I can get you a set of 6 of either type if you like. At least that way if you decide you don't like them, you can always use them on an alt and get the other set without being out of pocket.

Get both, the problem is solved then. I have a few variety of Plasma-based weapons beauty is you can drop them then on other ships or toons.

I appreciate it. I have both types. I've let the corrupted ones sit around and collect dust without upgrading them. I'm upgrading two and swapping them out. I got a Corrupted Plasma Full Auto Rifle. Worth upgrading at all?

My personal view is....ignore the proc on all weapons.

You've got a 2.5% chance for it to actually go off and as such there really is no point building a ship around something with so small a chance.

Much better to pick weapons based on 1) the visuals that you like the most, 2) if they pair with any set bonuses from reps/lobi etc., 3) they are all one "flavour" so you get the most benefit from energy type based buffs.

I'm using these for a specific plasma build, so I wanted both a mix of looking good but being the best in class so to speak. I'll be honest, I didn't really realize before this post that the only real difference between these weapon types, within the same damage class, was the proc.

I've got those on my Klingon toon and even splashed out on the lobi omni and console to go with them, they're very good, especially if you're using Fire At Will. Was using the Zhat Vash disruptors prior to that.

Otherwise I use Phasers, the 32nd century ones mainly these days but I've a set of agony, pulse, sensor linked and covert ones tucked away too.

No problem!

As to the ground weapons, I think I had one of those when they first came out but I didn't stick with it for very long. I tend to use the Lobi ground weapons these days. The Discovery Full Auto rifle is generally viewed as the best in class, though on my tac I prefer the LD Portable Phaser Cannon. A quick shout out to the Type II 2285 Phaser Pistol too, its fallen down the list a little nowadays in the face of the Disco rifle, but it still hits like a ton of bricks.

Generally speaking though, I find there's often no real need to upgrade the ground weapons (rarity that is, rather than the mark) heavily unless you're already sorted everywhere else.

I also bought the Omni and the console. But I actually have both Omnis and the torpedo. BFAW and TS and Broadside Emitters turn my little Pilot Escort into The Death Blossom.
