Just a question about this forum in general.
Is this forum based on an existing forum template you can download or buy somewhere or is this one build from scratch?
Just asking as we are also building a new website for our flight simulator virtual airline and are also looking to build in a forum and as I like this type of build, I was wondering where the Basic concept is coming from.

It is indeed vBulletin, albeit heavily customised in areas, but the regular software will probably be more than adequate for what you're doing. I used to be part of another community that used it before switching to a free forum software (now this is going back about 15 years) but it's not difficult to operate if memory serves.

I believe it's something like $400 for the licence but I forget if that's yearly or all in, Jordan is the man that'd you'd be best speaking to if you wanted more info.

looked up on the site,

$250 USD for Licence, including 1 month of support. (but I believe all updates are included for the version you get, so version 5 in this case?)
$170 USD if you wanna remove the "vbulletin" from global footer.



I actually think Invision Power Board is cheaper, both for license and support they do in 6 month blocks. I remember getting a license for this one back in the day, still valid too surprisingly, just need support for updates.

Ow that’s not cheap. But it is as Petrarch says, heavy customisable as a lot of the features are made especially for the UFP. Like the forms, the automated forum messages, fleet manager etc ….

Anyone with decent CSS/HTML knowledge can customise the default template into whatever they want since the HTML structure for forum software is generally well structured. It just takes a lot of work to do!

I remember when we first switched from PHPBB to vBulletin. Was like Night and Day... Then we worked with Hathaway on creating the first "LCARS" theme for this place... was actually placed a vBulletin forum of the month....

That was one of the first major version "we" did back then...
Compared to stock vBulletin, it was a complete overhaul, although quite demanding for some people's internet back then.

Surprised the domain isn't behind a cloudflare today...
