It's April 5th When I'm posting this so Happy First Contract Day everyone.

I thought it would be nice to have a post where everyone can share their love for their favourite ships without trying to win a random poll or contest. That could be a type of ship, a class of ship, or your exact ship in a game or role-play storyline (maybe some previous ARES RP ships here).

If you don't have a favourite ship yet use something like your main ship in STO, or any other game game. Any Star Trek ship is fine, TV shows, movies, books, comics, anything, (and yes, that does mean you can do the Millennium Falcon due to it's half a second appearance in the Battle of Sector 001).

Also feel free to include if your ship has a cool name or special design. I would love to hear about your ship's history or a meaning behind it's name and designation.

Whether it is a Shuttle, Cruiser, Carrier, Destroyer, or something else entirely (Jellyfish fans anyone?), share what it is and why you think it's the best ship ever below.

My all time favourite Star Trek Ship the Sovereign Class.

And here's a bit I'm sure will get some people trying to change my mind but I don't have a favourite class or even type. I like the look and feel for pretty much all ships. For example, I really like the closed in and secure feeling of the NX-01, and the open and light corridors and work places of the Constitution from Strange New Worlds. The hotel vibe of the Galaxy Class is really nice and the alive and growing feeling in the Refit Crossfield makes scenes in it much better. I like basically all ships equally but I do have two ship in Star Trek Online I use as my mains so I will write about them below.

One is a Yorktown Star Science Class, the USS Godfrey NCC 20422-C. You can see it in my signature and it is the one I use for completing most missions due to it's 4/4 weapon layout.
Named after Air Vice Marshall Paul Godfrey, the first commander of the UK Space Command, USS Godfrey's missions also reflect the Divisions aims at the time. Make Space Secure and safe for everyone now and future. In the way of the Federation it also conducts multiple scientific experiments at once.It is at the front of both Federation security and scientific advancement and I don't expect that to change anytime soon.
The USS Godfrey's designation is also special and not in the normal NCC 983XX of the Yorktown Class as it a Date. It is the date I joined both the UFP on the web and my fleet over on Playstation (which also means my 1 year since joining here is only 15 days away.) As for the C I just liked the look of it rather than any reason at the time. However since then it got a history being the 3rd ship of that name and was Odyssey Class that was badly destroyed and built back up as a Yorktown like the Yorktown itself as it would fit it's role better and changed from the B to C at this point in it's history.

My Second Ship is a Crossfield refit (32c.), USS Jackson NCC 1034-A. Designation in the traditional manner of 23c with the A to show the refit. Named after a mathematician and engineer Mary W. Jackson who worked on the Project Mercury which got John Glenn into orbit around Earth during the Space Race. (NCC 1030 USS Glenn named after John Glenn for this reason). I don't have as much of a story for this one but commonly use it in TFO's and around ESD due to it's manoeuvrability and abilities to cloak and launch and combat pet. Very fun to fly around in.

Also don't feel like your need to have a post as long or as complicated as this. I'm sure I am in the top end as too the amount of backstory I have given my ships and thought into their names and if you can just say the class if you want.
Even if your ship is named something silly that's fine. After all I want to hear if you have anything sillier than the Boaty McBoatface submersible the British Antarctic Survey has.

U.S.S. Valley Forge - NCC 43305
Excelsior Class

A little bit of history about my ship. The Valley Forge was launched in the latter half of the 24th century being the second federation ship to bear the name as her previous iteration was a Constitution II class vessel. Primarily intended for long range exploration and scientific survey's, the Valley Forge also served as a testbed for numerous technologies that would show up as standard on the Galaxy Class starships.

The ship has had a storied career having made first contact with 8 different alien species while on her 5 year long mission. The Valley Forge also saw numerous action during the Dominion War before being wrecked during the first battle of the Chin'toka system when a heavily damaged Akira class collided with her starboard nacelle forcing the crew to abandon ship and were subsequently captured by Dominion Forces.

The crew was eventually released after the war ended, the wreck was retrieved and returned to spacedock for repair and refit. Although the spaceframe was heavily damaged it was still salvageable, eventually being relaunched into active service in 2401.

The Excelsior class is my all time favourite ship, especially its OG configuration!

Yes she's a weird design especially with the secondary hull, but its something out there and different, it just looked so good when it appeared on the screen.

Miranda class.

It’s got the same styling as the Constitution but a more compact and sensible looking frame. It just looks good.
Nothing fancy and outlandish, single hull and some engines with a variety of options for the roll-bar/sensor pods/extra landing pads.

Ever since seeing it in WoK it’s been my favourite ship by a long way.

For me it'll always be this beauty. Ever since they appeared in First Contact, I've loved the Steamrunner's odd design. From the tricobalt device slinging version in the Armada games to the Dominion War game and finally in STO. I like all of the Anti-Borg Task Force ships (Steamrunner, Akira and Saber classes) but the Steamrunner will always be my favorite.

For me the most beautiful design is the D'deridex, B-type Romulan Warbird.

I remember the first time I saw this ship in TNG as a kid (TNG "The Neutral Zone") and I was just like "woah.... awesome". (That episode got better as that episode featured the acting talents of Marc Alaimo (Gul Dukat)... but I digress).

Lots of reasons for it being my favourite - it's green (my favourite colour), the wrap around super structure which creates that interesting void between the upper and lower hull. The size, being bigger than the Enterprise D gave it automatically a more threatening feel. I loved the avion like feel of all Romulan ships, but this one felt like a crow or a raven, and that just seemed cool to me.

Then from lore - the singularity core, the weapon load out disruptor arrays; phasers; photon torpedo launcher/primary disruptor array... come on... a beautiful ship of war.

Probably not a surprise for those that know me, but my favorites are the Defiant and Sovereign-class ships. At least for the Federation, I'm actually with Woorlord on this and I absolutely love the D'deridex class warbird. It's a piece of junk gameplay-wise but it is THE iconic Romulan ship out there and the original characterization of the Star Empire, not the travesty that Nemesis made out of it, was for a long time my absolute favorite Trek faction. That's also why my first serious toon in STO was a Romulan - Valera i-Ra'tleihfi t'Keras.

While I enjoy most Star Trek ships, I've always kind of gravitated towards Romulan designs being my favorite, and nothing is more iconic than the D'Deridex. I've always been kind of disappointed that STO never did the ship justice stats-wise, so I usually only use it in STO on my Romulan toons for space barbie and fly a Legendary Scimitar or something similar in practice.
