I'm new to the fleet so just wanted to introduce myself.
I've been a lifelong trekkie and the original series is still nearest and dearest to my heart. I'd be giving up a clue to how old I am, but I saw the first episode of the original series when it first aired in 1966. I been playing STO pretty much from launch and have seen the game go through many changes, some good some not so good. I think I have a pretty good grasp on ship and character builds/development and like to think I can contribute to the fleet and teammates in the game. I am a sociable person and would like to see more players on voice chat. Texting is ok, but relatively impersonal. I think the social aspect of gaming is best served when people can interact with each other over voice chat. Just my opinion.
Like many I'm ok with most of the trek series, except Discovery. Sorry couldn't embrace that one. It just isn't trek to me. Star Trek was always meant to be an envisionment of what human potential could be.
In real life, I live way up north in Saskatchewan, Canada, and no we don't all have our own dog sled teams or live in igloos. I like the fact that STO is without borders with players from all over the world. Certainly time zones can be a challenge for group and teaming up but with a little finagling it can be done.
Looking forward to getting to know the fleet and the folks in it. And as always when in doubt we need to ask "what would Kirk do"?
