Both Rear Admiral Picard and Commodore Sisko turn to gaze at the Carrier Starship known as the USS Valkyrie, also known as the United Earth One. Both Officers took a small moment to glance at each other before taking sips once more. The President had arrived and they both realized that great expectations had also come about as well...


She's here... and don't allow her arrival to cause you to avoid answering my question, Commodore...


(sighs) Yes... in light of Captain Holland's errors in how he communicated with Captain Thane including almost killing the crew compliment of the Fearless. I have decided to relieve him of command.

Indeed. He and his crew had been sent by me the same information pertaining to the Douwd's recent history, the Adocate, and her son but Captain Holland had failed to cross reference with the Fearless to confirm the visuals he was witnessing that were false. I believe his starship should be the one to take point within the Gamma Quadrant. I just don't believe Captain Holland who was only a month into his Command is the best Officer to sit upon it's chair.


I see... and whom do you believe is the best Captain to helm the Endeavor?


Captain Thane. He showed the most poise, grit, and leadership abilities while handicapped with one of the most outdated starships in the fleet. Yet he still prevailed while everyone else with larger crews and more modern starships were not nearly as successful. Captain Thane also inspired his crew to gain intelligence that assisted us in winning the war. It wouldn't be wise if I didn't send the former crew of the Fearless with their Captain to the new starship. Chemistry is very hard to re-develop..(takes a sip)


I am sure we can make any adjustments to the crew roster if you need any assistance. Overall good choice Ben... I believe in the crew of the Fearless very much and I knew despite what resources I had available at the time after reading their initial evaluations that they would become a cohesive unit.. (takes a long sip) Commander Holland will take being relieved of Command very hard.


I anticipated that. It's also why he should be made to work with someone who can help him become a better Captain after he takes some time off.

Christine was enjoying her beer a some thoughts came across her mind

"I'm going to miss being on that ship, even though she was held together by gum, duct tape & the sheer spite of one grumpy Andorian. Still, she is an elegant ship, the Fearless. I wish I had more time with her. I wonder what ship we'll get? If dad had his way, he'd put us on the Endeavor. Nebulas are kinda derpy looking. Heh, So did Mirandas. Still functioned just as well as any during her time. I wonder when Tegan will get in? I wanna propose as soon as possible. Ever since that incident at the academy, she's stayed with me through every high & low. I love her for it"

She noticed her fersian captain approach & said, "Hey. How are you faring?"

Thane inclined his head to Ms Green when she approached and greeted them, sipping on his drink and pausing at the flavour profile it had. A strange mix to his alien palette. "Doing okay. Enjoying the time off." He responds. As others threw in their responses he checked his PADD which stayed connected to the Starbase's internal systems so he could receive any updated messages and the like when they arrived. Hearing Katie's idea for a Holodeck program to try, Thane responded without even thinking. "Sure. I'll run as the Villain. I can conjure up some terrifying idea of conquering the Federation. Maybe pull a Khan." Whether he was being humorous or not would be up to those who heard him. Ferasans did typically fit the villain role fairly well and it might be a good challenge for the crew to work together and be challenged by an Augment without the Khan issue.

Reading a new message that had come through with an assignment attached, his ears twitched rapidly whilst his tail stilled a moment. "Interesting choice for the assignment." He muttered in Ferasan and looked up to his crew. "I'll be back." Thane then headed off to hunt for Christine. Amidst the minds of the Bar it was easy for an experienced telepath to single out and locate a single individual they knew, truthfully it was a trivial effort. Approaching her with his PADD in hand he could tell she was lost in her thoughts until she greeted him. "Hey. We have a new assignment. We're being assigned to the Endeavour, under my Command. So you will be required to pass the Command test as I will be assigning you the role of Chief Engineer. We have plenty of time between now and our set-off date so it would be good for you to familiarize yourself with the ship and your team. I will not cut R&R off early but I will be arranging a meeting with the department heads tomorrow at 0900 hours on the Endeavour."

Rawat thought to himself about the question posed by Green, Rawat taps his combadge attached to his uniform and says, "Computer, time till end of Beta shift." The Computer then replies with it familiar, feminine voice which Rawat believes has heard in his sleep due to the nature of work causing him to interact with computers almost the entire shift "Beta Shift will be over at 2230 hours." he thinks My friends shift wont be over in another 5 hours and I have way too much time on my hands. Thinking this Rawat agrees to Green's suggestion.
As he sees the large Fesaran leave the table he asks to Green to have a seat and starts the discussion,"I plan to have a another Holodeck session on the Historic Battle of Britain, I am lacking 3 pilots, would you like to join me?". He awaited a reply then adds,"I heard from a friend that a new Engineering Officer will be joining us. His name is Lieutenant O'Toole, I believe."

"Hey. We have a new assignment. We're being assigned to the Endeavour, under my Command. So you will be required to pass the Command test as I will be assigning you the role of Chief Engineer. We have plenty of time between now and our set-off date so it would be good for you to familiarize yourself with the ship and your team. I will not cut R&R off early but I will be arranging a meeting with the department heads tomorrow at 0900 hours on the Endeavour."

Christine looked at her captain, nodded and said, "Endeavor, eh? She's a fine ship, no doubt. I'll do a tour of her after the meeting. As for the command test, I think I'm ready. Just let me know when you want to do it."

"I wouldn't worry about him." Christine said, "He got spooked about the Remmik paracite & wanted me close by. We had an agreement before I started the academy that he wouldn't interfere in my career. So far, he kept to that." She yawned loudly, downed the rest of her pint & said, "I'm gonna turn in early. See you in the morning." She patted her captain on the shoulder, then headed out of the bar.

Jack's first mission as a Starfleet Officer was over, but was it really a... success? Well, the official version said so, but Jack was hesitant to celebrate. A whole species, no, two species gone. It was hard to believe that both the Jem'Hadar and the Vorta had been wiped off the board. The fate of the Founders was unknown.

"Geez...!"

Jack caught himself talking to himself. He was lying on his bed inside his quarters on Starbase 185B. Many thoughts were running through his head and he tried to sort them all. As a Marine he had seen quite a few things already, but nothing like this.

He had the day off and his orders were to rest and relax... and to prepare for a possible new assignment. Due to the fact that the USS Fearless was decomissioned they would probably send him to a new one. He was looking forward to this and couldn't wait to enter the bridge. Right after the mission he had been told to have chances of becoming Chief Tactical Officer which was THE chance for him to prove what he was capable of.

"Mom, Dad, I can't tell you more or any details. It's classified, you will understand. But I want you to know that I'm alright and more than happy to be here with the other guys. It's a great crew, great friends and yeah... they're like brothers and sisters."

He wasn't exaggerating. From the very first moment he liked his new crew mates. They were all working as a team and as a unit - it was... fascinating.

Jack got up and put on his uniform.

"I think I need a drink", he said to himself again and left his quarters. He headed towards the "Rim Bar" where he spotted many others of the crew. They were all sitting together, chatting, having drinks, eating peanuts, obviously having a good time. Jack ordered a Bourbon and went to the others who noticed him and offered him a seat at their table.

"Hey there! Looks like I'm not the only one who needs to wet his throat after the last mission, right?", Jack giggled. "It's nice to see you all!"

Jack's Bourbon arrived.

Katie was happy to see so many of her crew mates would be up for the holodeck story. "Ah Captain, the villian side is a bit buggy still but I will see what I can do. Not sure if I'll be able to get it working for this one as it needs to happen so soon but maybe next time."

As the Captain looked down at his Padd an expresion Katie hand't learned yet took over his face. Saying his goodbyes and leaving to head towards Christine. "Bye Captain" Katie called after him. After chatting with Rawat for a bit about with some more details of the program Katie spotted Jack grabbing a drink at the bar. "Hey Jack, come and join us, I got a fun thing we could try while we wait for our next assignment. How would you like to be in a movie style holodeck program."

Lieutenant Alex O'Toole

Life since the Academy had certainly been in the fast lane for the newly graduated O'Toole. He had been one of the few Cadets who had been commissioned straight as a Lieutenant for his performance. It felt a little strange to him, as he did not really feel as if he did in fact earn it. To his mind, he just generally performed averagely. Maybe slightly above average. Certainly not over-achieving as he apparently had. Nonetheless, he was now a Lieutenant.

His orders had been cut rightaway, sending him to Starbase 185. The problem was that they said nothing except to report there post-haste. Then for the next two weeks he was merely a supernumerary without further orders. He took this time to learn what he could. He might as well make himself useful while he was here anyway. Some of the other engineers did not entirely appreciate it, but it was what it was.

Today had been another long one. He had spent the day crawling through tubes and ducts to do maintenance on a ventilation system deep in the bowels of the station. He had been cold and dirty by the time he had finished. Certainly nothing unusual for an engineer, and nothing a quick sonic shower wouldn't fix. God, he missed a proper shower with actual water though. He knew there were ships that had them, but his quarters aboard the station here did not.

Freshly showered he decided to stop in at the Galactic Rim bar for something to eat -though he could have gone to the mess hall as well- and a couple of drinks. Even far from home he could still have a nice long pint of Murphy's due to the wonders of replicator technology. Stepping into the place he went straight to the bar where he sat down and ordered his drink before he turned around to observe what was going on. It seemed one of the ships had returned home. He knew the name, but it had slipped from his mind for the moment. Maybe he would introduce himself in a bit and try to make some new friends.

Thane returned to the bar proper after talking to his Chief. He took a deep breath, settled down on the stool, and swished the cloak around his frame to get comfortable with it. Never sit on the darn things, always a bad day for anyone doing that. Thane glanced over to his left when he spied one of his newest crew members, to Thane’s right was the original group that he was with and Thane took a moment to study the new man. Lieutenant out from the gate? Interesting.

“Mr. Alex O’Toole?” He asked curiously. “Good to see you out and about. I am Thane, Captain of the Endeavour it seems to be, and the ship you are assigned to. I recognize your face from the crew manifest.” He greets the fellow in English. Not using the Universal translator that came inbuilt with most comm badges, implants, and otherwise. Though it did have a strong accent behind it he was fairly fluent despite the facial shape.

Thane flagged down the Bartender and ordered a drink from the Replomat since they lacked anything from his homeworld that would be imported. A strange, dark purple drink that had a slight fizz to it. The taste was sweet in an almost grape and cherry kind of manner though if this were the real drink non-Ferasans would suffer mild hallucinations from consuming the stuff.

Commodore Benjamin Sisko smiles in sincerity as he firmly pats Picard across his back before continuing his own applause of appreciation. Fleet Admiral Janeway places her hands behind her back while she stepping to the side to allow the President of United Earth the full measure of the podium...

"Thank you Fleet Admiral Janeway. It brings me much pleasure to not only be here to witness two of our most prestigious officers accept their promotions, but to also initiate Starfleet's first steps into the full exploration of the Gamma quadrant. Today (gestures) we introduce the Starship Valkyrie Carrier... the first of its kind. This carrier specializes in deep sector surveying and colonization. As all of you now know the disappearance of the Dominion coincided with the Remmick Neural Parasites invasion took many souls during a failed attempt to disable our way of life.

If there are other sentiment lifeforms here we need to know including possible threats that we do not yet have any knowledge of. The cultivation of life must continue and while we will always respect our rules pertaining to First Contact, it is time for us to remember our first mission which is to seek out new worlds and civilizations. The federation is still an exploratory organization and no matter what challenges we collectively face, it is our solemn duty to make sure that we remain that way."

Applause continues to reverberate throughout the theater chamber as more lifeforms stand in the unification of ovation. Rawat looks sitting at the scene sitting at a seat not too far away from the stage, he was sitting right of the Ensign Michael Boyd((His dialogues will be shown in grey, whereas Advik will be blue)). He heard stories about Ensign Boyd's failure to maintain his composure at the away mission, causing him to be pulled from all away missions till further notice. Many rumours flew about him those days but they were starting to subside. Although, his unpopularity and Anxious nature after the incidents, Rawat wanted to judge his character for himself. He looked preoccupied throughout the promotion but from what Advik could determine from afar better than what he was before. He approached Boyd.

"Hello Mr.Boyd, How are you? How was the tour of the station?" he said whilst slightly smiling. He seemed to not pay attention as if looking at the stars afar with a keen interest but he suddenly jolted his head towards Rawat and greeted him
"Oh uh Sorry Mr.Rawat, My mind was a thousand light years away. I am fine currently and the tour was fine.I've been to this station before so everything is familiar. " Yeah no worries, I heard you were asked to take stress management and other courses, how are they going?"
"Well, honestly as good as it can go, I am starting to feel a bit confident from before but the regret of that day still lingers in my mind. How I could have done things differently. "Hey, what is done is done, no point of goign back on it and regretting your choices, what matters is what you gathered from that experience and what will you do if similar choices come back in the future." As soon as Boyd started mouthing his reply.

Captain Thane, prepare your crew to be briefed aboard the Endeavor in 2 hours...

Thane stood and watched as Janeway promoted Picard to the rank of Vice Admiral. In part he was surprised that Picard, the man who commanded both the Enterprise D through its career and the E through several challenges was only now being promoted up the ranks. The President of all people had come to deliver this promotion personally was another surprise, also a risk for her and the Federation if something bad had happened. This was to much of a risk he assessed on

He would’ve loved to have been placed in command of something larger, or more flexible in capability. The carrier was fascinating to him at the very least, as did several other ships. The Ares he sought to take command of, or at least serve on once more as soon as possible. He took a sip of the drink and then licked his nose, getting a weird look from some random officers passing by. Their surface emotions he actively filtered through was always amusing to feel out, something he had always taken to doing whenever he had the opportunity. Same as feeling out surface thoughts of those around him. He considered zero’ing in on Picard or the President to feel out those two. Telepathic resistance training worked best when you are aware of the telepath, but not when you’re not expecting them.

He felt the intent from Sisko to approach him before the man made his way over and Thane looked to Sisko. “At 2300 hours? That’s close to midnight and most of them will be asleep or getting to that point. There had better be a good reason behind it.” Thane stood firm to his stance, rest was important for good, solid work and he wasn’t about to sacrifice it for something that could wait.

Christine decided to skip the promotion ceremony of VA. Picard, as she was particularly exhausted from the day's work. She was an hour or so into a very, deep sleep when suddenly....

Instantly, Christine bolted upright in her bed, wearing a tanktop & said loudly, "COOLANT LEAK!" She shook her head and pressed the comms button, saying, "Urquhart here. You just woke me up, which is punishable by scrubbing-"

Christine blinked and said, "Sorry, thought it was engineering. What's up?"

She rubbed her eyes and said, "Give me some time to get myself together. I'll bring coffees for all."
