If we end up getting a timeline change, I will be okay with it, since STO has been the standard bearer for post Nemesis canon for years up until Picard S3 broke the timeline.

I'd like to see the game returned to that status. So I'll be watching this with great interest.

Yeah, nothing groundwise is changing. The new Earth backdrop (which is the same one used on the space map) broke doors and turbolifts when they updated the view outside, but nothing you interact with seens different.

The space map is smaller overall, but they are moving McKinley Station and stuff close to the new ESD, so it looks like only the research station is disappearing (assuming it isn't just still on the to do list to add). Overall it is still very much a work in process, but on track to be very picturesque when done. Just wish Qo'nos and New Romulus would get some attention like this.

Just me speculating, but I think in time, it'll happen. Earth is likely getting the first pass because there's a canonical reference to ESD being updated.

To me, it means DECA somewhere wants to do a tad more than maintenance mode. And anything beyond this thought process is a plus.

I've noticed they've been doing the small things that matter, like trying to ensure console+PC have simultaneous events than delayed, and so forth.

Anyway, a very long road to go still.

I believe DECA might wait until Cryptic officially ceases to exist as a company before fully taking over and starting open communication with us. The 15th anniversary could be a fitting time for this.

I totally agree with you. For Gearbox, this is basically just a transfer from Cryptic to DECA. Plus, it’s worth remembering that this change impacts not just Star Trek Online, but also Neverwinter and, I think, one other game. While I’d prefer better communication with the devs, we’re pretty used to the STO devs not talking to us much.
