Every so often, there is a piece of STO news or a forum post that you may not catch that we feel is important. We at FNS would like to help you with that. Here are some pieces of news from the last few weeks we have found particularly interesting. These articles and posts could contain anything; gameplay mechanics, cosmetics changes, and everything in between.
Every few weeks we try to select a few items that we feel every player should know. There may be more or less depending on the information available. These items could come from the Star Trek Online official forums, a developer interview from another news outlet, or a player. In addition to a link to the source, we will provide our opinions on the topic as to why we think it matters to you.

ARC News: Announcing Delta Rising!
Why it Matters: The next STO Expansion has been revealed: Delta Rising. Delta Rising thrusts players into the Delta Quadrant to continue Seasons 8 and 9’s stories revolving around the Iconians, Voth, and Dyson Spheres. Raising the level cap to 60, allowing Mark 13 and 14 gear, and introducing the Tier 6 starship, players will be able to access more powerful equipment to better handle themselves in combat once Delta Rising drops. A new type of Bridge Officer will also be added, and the expansion will feature voice talent of several Voyager actors. Some of our favorite alien species from Voyager will also poke in and say hello, with some being central to the storyline. TrekMovie: Cryptic’s Al Rivera Talks to TrekMovie About “Delta Rising” STO Expansion…
Why it Matters: In this interview with Cryptic’s Lead Designer Al Rivera, TrekMovie gives what is essentially a condensed version of the Delta Rising reveal panel. TrekMovie’s article is much more comprehensive on Delta Rising than ARC’s official announcement article, and giving it a read is highly suggested. Rivera reveals details that were missed in the ARC announcement, including the addition of an extra type of ship exclusive to Tier 6, which will be “more powerful” than current ships. The article also provides high-quality pictures of several of Delta Rising’s characters, and one impressive picture of the new model for the Intrepid class. Disappointingly, this article makes it clear that there will be no new PvP content with Delta Rising.
ARC News: Duty Officer Pack Promo
Why it Matters: It’s that time again where Cryptic is offering the chance to win yourself a Jem’Hadar Attack Ship in the Romulan Survivor Duty Officer pack. It does mix the promo up this time: upon purchase of a Doff Pack, a container will appear in your inventory alongside the Doff Pack. The container will hold either 10 Lobi Crystals or a Jem’Hadar Attack Ship, meaning that you only have to open the container for the ship, without needing open Doff slots to open the Doff Pack. There is one particularly tantalizing part of the article that is the real reason why this is being mentioned alongside such big news. Come Delta Rising, all owners of a Jem’Hadar Attack Ship will be able to upgrade it to Tier 6 at no cost. What stat upgrades this means are unknown, but it’s interesting that this exclusive ship gets a free upgrade to Tier 6, and could mean other exclusive ships may follow the same path. The promotion runs until September 4th.
