attachment.php?attachmentid=3594&stc=1The 8th doctor in all his glory, Paul McGann is the newest prospective actor for the position of Robert April.

Michael Hogan is probably known by the majority of people here as Colonel Saul Tigh in Battlestar Galactica, or perhaps as the voice of Armando-Owen Bailey in the Mass Effect series. His work in science fiction is quite obviously extensive, and as such applied for the role of Captain Robert April for Star Trek: Axanar to be released in 2015, and was awarded the position. Unfortunately, it was officially announced on the 6th of October that he will not be continuing in the role due to personal reasons, for which he withdrew his application.

This, however, leaves a gap. So far as official announcements go, all that we have been told that one of the most likely person to fill the role of the first captain of the USS Enterprise (NCC 1701) is going to be Paul McGann, who's most recognised role is that of the eighth incarnation of the doctor in the Doctor Who series. Filling the role of a character who "...should be 50 in 2245...", McGann is a very close 54 as opposed to Michael Hogan's 64, and would "...logically make more sense in this position, age wise..." at least. I guess it will be up to time to tell us how this all pans out.

We as viewers don't know much more at these early stages, but make sure to watch this space as we get even more knowledge on what looks like a Star Trek epic - Star Trek: Axanar!

Thank you for the article Levon. I missed the announcement on this. It's always good to know I can rely on FNS to bring up news like this.

Sounds like good news to me. When it comes to acting I rate Paul McGann higher than Michael Hogan.

Don't let Sammy catch you saying that Tongue Out

While I loved Michael Hogan on Battlestar, I think Paul McGann would be a better fit for the role.

Fraid I dont really know Paul McGann, but Michael Hogan can do no wrong in my books.

I hope it works out, but I was really hoping for Saul Tigh, Captain of the Enterprise. The series partically writes itself then.

I like both, and either will be a great choice.

Also, 6 mins of Paul McGann: http://youtu.be/-U3jrS-uhuo

I was just about to link that myself. His performance there was rather spectacular. Better than Matt Smith's years, to say the least.

Paul McGann has the ability to turn in to John Hurt, therefore making him clearly superior to Michael Hogan.

Michael Hogan has the ability to turn into Michael Hogan. Why would he want to be anyone else? Tongue Out

He would want to because John Hurt is precisely one million seven hundred seventy one thousand five hundred and sixty one times the actor that Michael Hogan is.

I've seen McGann in a couple of TV / movies and he's impressed me more than Hogan, so good news for me.
