Hope yet, you classical Star Trek fans and fanettes! CW's president Mark Pedowitz has been recently interviewed, stating that he would be keen for his network to air a new Star Trek series.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]

The CW is a joint venture network, owned part by Warner Brother Entertainment, and part by the CBS Corperation (who owns all TV rights to Star Trek, where Paramount owns all movie rights). The CW is known for broadcasting titles such as The 100, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, The Flash, and many other well-known titles.

As the majority of you would know, Trek hasn't seen any TV series airage for almost 10 years, with the last episode of Star Trek: Enterprise broadcast on the 13th of May, 2005. Cancelled due not to low ratings, but to lack of viewers (not aided by the fact it was moved to the Friday-night death slot).

At the Television Critics Association winter press conference, Pedowitz proclaimed; As a life-long Star Trek fan, I would hope to have Star Trek at The CW, although I have heard no discussion about it going out as a TV series at all.

Star Trek Enterprise ended it's 4 year stint with 'These Are the Voyages...', also ending Star Trek's continuous 18 year presence back-to-back on the television screen. Let's just hope after a 10 year respite, Star trek comes back for an equally long (if not longer) line of science-fiction brilliance!

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE POSSIBILITIES OF A NEW TREK SERIES ON CW?
LET US KNOW BELOW!

It does seem that in the past year or two, there's been increased chatter and spread of rumours regarding a new Star Trek series. My guess is that the desire to see a new series is starting to build quite quickly after the 'rest' we've had for 10 years.

Oh I saw this the other day. See the CW is known to have a young cast for their shows, i.e. all the series named in the article. I noticed how he didn't elaborate on what kind of Trek series he would see on his network and that really does scare me. What I fear the most is that if a new series comes to pass and it is aired on the CW, it will be a continuation that is JJ's universe either with the enterprise or more likely another ship with a just as young cast such as the crew of the Enterprise in the JJ'verse which will please to the target audience of The CW. I mean at the end of the day, any network only concern are ratings. Sexual appeal and explosions are what brings people to the table.

Honestly, I feel the only classic, prime universe Trek we will ever see will be from fan made endeavours like Axanar and Horizon to name a few. But hey, I would welcome being wrong!

Mazoue, once again, you read my mind.

As I stated in my last article, people are wishing more and more for 'action' over 'exploration'. JJ-verse fulfills that, however, it has to cut out somewhere. Action needs (relatively) young people to act out on a regular basis and not look bizarre.

Honestly, though, if that is the direction we need to take, I would be all for it if there was one proviso - put it in the prime universe! Stop throwing away canon that has been established up until 2009.

I guess we will just have to wait and see.

As much as that episode made me cringe, Red Squad with the Valiant behind dominion lines wouldn't be terrible , I suppose.

At any rate, I'd be extremely happy to see more Trek.

I'm open for anything TREK (which excludes JJ-crap).

Prediction time.

CWs hit show Supernatural will come to an end soon. They will launch a new Trek using Super characters in recurring cameos to transfer the fan base. One or two may even be major characters. We'll probably see the first gay character in Trek. (I strayed into Tumblr, apparently the gay fanbase of Super is friggin HUGE.) Gay characters will probably be two smoking hot lesbians to keep the 12yr old boys watching. Writers will continue to change at half season mark leaving the whole series a discontinued mess with the only notable aspect being hot girls in bras kissing.

Now not that I disagree with this being a good idea (other than it being a borderline porno, but we'll leave that aside), the fact is, we don't want them to become a discontinued mess with no set writers. We need to be supportive of a good, strong writing staff, actors and all other members which come together to make trek.

We need another 7 season series. At least 3 of them, actually, but still. 1 would be a miracle.

altho i agree the bad-writing/acting in new trek movies. it brought the attention of the new generations that never knew it. or never watched it to StarTrek

reminds me of a saying here. unfortunately its hard to translate. :p

Anyways. I would love to see a new proper trek series. Maybe post-Nemesis/Pre-STO Storyline times? or Post-Hobus/Pre-STO.

tho i would prefer to have a proper Earth-Romulan War era. and Founding of federation series.

What I think a new Trek series needs is another jump of say 20 years or so in the prime universe and have this be more of a five year mission type of show. Have some of the old favorite aliens return but obviously create new ones and develop some interesting story arcs with them.

I my perfect trek, I would love to see if they can tackle present day issues in the realm of a science fiction story. Get trek back to it's roots.Constitution light
