Fallen compiles a list of his top ten quotes from Trek.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]

People like to quote things. And for Trek fans, it's normally Trek related, because let's face facts, Star Trek has so many great quotes it's hard for a fan to not use one from time to time!

So, here are my top 10 quotes from Star Trek:

attachment.php?attachmentid=4155&stc=1 NUMBER 10 - "I'M A DOCTOR NOT A..."

Let's start with an obvious one. Started by Dr Leonard McCoy in the original series, and expanded upon by others throughout the rest of Star Trek, the "I'm a Doctor, not a..." quotes have been used many times over.

Beginning with "What am I, a doctor or a moon-shuttle conductor?" these quotes have become a regular saying within the Star Trek universe.

attachment.php?attachmentid=4155&stc=1 NUMBER 9 - "MAKE IT SO."

The favorite phrase of command from one of Starfleet's leading commanders, "make it so" was used by Captain Jean-Luc Picard to express an order for something to be done. "Make it so" has been used by Picard consistently through Star Trek: The Next Generation and its films. The quote was so familiar among the crew of the Enterprise-D that even Picard's command staff started using it, having been uttered by Commander Riker, Lt. Commander LaForge and Lt. Commander Data.

attachment.php?attachmentid=4155&stc=1 NUMBER 8 - "BEAM ME UP."

Sometimes used to make fun of 'nerds' and 'geeks', "beam me up" is a quote made famous by Star Trek and used, in one variation or another, throughout all of the series. Although mainly quoted as "Beam me up, Scotty", that exact wording was never used on screen.

attachment.php?attachmentid=4155&stc=1 NUMBER 7 - "NUCLEAR WESSELS"

A running joke throughout The Original Series, its films and JJ Trek is Pavel Chekov's inability to pronounce the letter 'v'. One of the best examples of this is in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.

A Russian searching for "Nuclear Wessels" amid the cold war would have been ridiculous, but for these visitors from the future it seemed normal. Lets just say, things nearly didn't end well for the baby of Kirk's bridge crew.

attachment.php?attachmentid=4155&stc=1 NUMBER 6 - "RESISTANCE IS FUTILE."

"We are the Borg. Lower you shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile."

The go-to greeting for the Borg. Growing up in the 80's in a Star Trek household, these are some words that would make the skin of a little boy crawl. Now, the shortened "resistance is futile" is another quote that has become prevalent in pop culture. Did you know the Borg were originally conceived as an insectoid race?

attachment.php?attachmentid=4155&stc=1 NUMBER 5 - "SET PHASERS TO STUN."

Another quote that has been used throughout Star Trek, "set phasers to stun" has been used, abused and parodied throughout, with various parodies giving it a different spin, including a 'milky' setting...

attachment.php?attachmentid=4155&stc=1 NUMBER 4 - "LIVE LONG AND PROSPER."

Live long and prosper, the customary farewell of Spock and many Vulcans. Similar in meaning to "peace be upon you", it conveys the speaker's good wishes. Along with the Vulcan salute that accompanies the phrase, it has become another quote that is tied to Star Trek, and moreover, Leonard Nimoy. Nimoy himself even used "LLAP" as a signoff to his tweets.

attachment.php?attachmentid=4155&stc=1 NUMBER 3 - KHAN'S MONOLOGUES

"He tasks me. He tasks me and I shall have him! I'll chase him 'round the moons of Nibia and 'round the Antares Maelstrom and 'round perdition's flames before I give him up!"

One of the monologues in Star Trek, from The Wrath of Khan, which is arguably one of the best Star Trek movies to date.

This monologue has been quoted and imitated since it's first utterance, as recently in The Big Bang Theory.

attachment.php?attachmentid=4155&stc=1 NUMBER 2 - "KHAAAAN!"

Attempting to avoid repetition, I also believe this belongs here.

This scream of frustration and anger is another quote that has made its way into pop culture. Showing the epitome of the emotions it was meant to display, the "Khaaaan" scream has mainly found its home in parody.

attachment.php?attachmentid=4155&stc=1 NUMBER 1 - "WHERE NO MAN HAS GONE BEFORE."

A symbol of beliefs for Starfleet, The United Federation of Planets, and a large number of Star Trek fans, the Captain's Oath is the defining quote of Star Trek. It may be overused and overly parodied, but it still maintains it's relevance to this day, and drives people to expand our knowledge and aim for the stars.
